Hi Melvyn,
After numerous tests, I arrived at the conclusion that the standard TK carb is rubbish!
Cut your losses and fit a Mikuni or OKO flat slider, you will not be disappointed. I have the Mikuni fitted now, Ihad to change the choke lever over to otherside and the needle needs lifting 1 or 2 ...

Re: ty 250 mono aftermarket parts
Have started on my next bike incorporating all the lessons learned from previous 4 machines. Latest improvement has be to adopt Fibre Reed Valve petals. As these old mono engines are based on a DT400 MX motor seems logical to fit petals for this motor. Huge improvement over the OEM steel items I ...

Re: ty 250 mono aftermarket parts
I generally find the eBay UK has the most variety of mono parts but eBay.fr has the better quality stuff simply because they never really had the abuse we poms gave the old monos. For example I buy most of my forks from France as they are cheaper and the alloy bits.lugs are rarely broken or threads ...

Re: Air cooled mono
THis was my first Pinky ... again.... in some 20 years. There are others in the shed of various stages of tune but basically built from ground up. The best mods I can recommend are tubeless rear wheel and stainless exhaust and fibre reed-valves. 270 Mick Andrews barrel & head or 1 of my own design ...

Re: ty 250 mono aftermarket parts
Hi there late night stalker .... latest 'blog' offering. For those interested, I rode first trial last weekend but with timing a mile out. Referring back to photo above, I now run with stator back plate in next slot up with trigger coil virtually at 5 oclock position, ie more advanced. It now ...

Re: Ty 250 swingarm bolt
Agreed, its rusted solid onto an internal bush and its tring to push the whole lot out! Sort of 20mm bush through a 13mm hole wont go !! Its a mamoth task and you either make 2 cuts as previous thread state or try cooling bolt somehow if its hollow. Try using a freezing spray sort of thing Rugby ...

Re: ty 250 mono aftermarket parts
OK update on progress. Most work done and only remains to sort timing out, as previously stated the IT crank keyway is at 5 oclock position when piston TDC so that's where coil needs to be. The coil pictured (thats the supply coil, not the trigger at 4.4 ohms) was actually a poor scrap coil with ...

Hi Bird,
Noticed your thread on TC ... and down under here as well. This tyre issue is as old as the hills in Yorkshire mate and if you read the other TY Mono After-Market Parts thread else where you will see how this particular pommie gets around the problem.
You have 2 alternatives depending on ...

Re: ty 250 mono aftermarket parts
First of all, it needs a darn good thrash down the road, about 10km full throttle should clear it out and back again. It will smoke a bit but thats the idea, clear out the exhaust system. Next repack your silencer about $25 if you do it yersen! New grips, new shoes etc, drop oil and refill with ...

Back to the thread for Lords sake ...... those who want to winge go to TC .... lets keep it TY here please.
