Hi fellows.
Our clutch basket seems very dirty and in need of some help. It is also unable to press the plates so as to unload the plates to remove the pins . Wondering too if there is a safe way to remove the spring retainers on the outside of the clutch basket so as to reuse them?
Also, any specs ...

Re: Cota349 Shop Manual/articles needed
Made a puller today to help us split the cases. It was a challenge getting a splitter that had the 7mm bolts. So we fabricated a puller using 7mm threaded rod and a strip of steel. Before we do the split, still need to remove the shift and kicker assemblies. Any pointers on this operation ?

Re: Cota349 Shop Manual/articles needed
When I took the piston off, the shims fell out and I did not see how they were fitted. The 2 parts diagrams 348-349 have different shim configurations and a different thickness option. What ought to be the correct clearances and shim locations. Or are shims’ configuration only supposed to be like in ...

Thank you again David. Next we are thinking about the conrod and wrist pin set up. Any enlightened ideas on this? Here’s what we have/know so far. Thanks in advance.

Re: Cota349 Shop Manual/articles needed
David.
Would such a tool make our lives easier upon reassembly of the crank into the cases?
Then it'll be a matter of figuring out the shims. Still a little fuzzy on this.
Can you see any reason this tool would not work on the 349?
Have a great weekend.

Re: Cota349 Shop Manual/articles needed
Hi David.
I was able to pull the primary gear off with some effort.
Do you use a case splitter? If so what sort? Also, any pointers doing this operation ?
Also, can you elaborate a little more on the codrod centering on the little end?
Thank you
Patrick

One detail:
Is the safety wired flywheel nut reverse thread?
I think the clutch’s is standard threading?
Thanks.

Re: Cota349 Shop Manual/articles needed
Thank you David. That’s good info indeed. I had a hunch this one would be interesting. Odd that there is not more out there in terms of a manual. We have a Clymer book on Montesas with no mention of the 349.
Let me know if you think of anything else.

Hi fellows.
My son and I have a Montesa 349 that we are resorting which has a seized engine. I managed to remove the cylinder and will need to split the case. All we have is the parts diagram. We could really use any technical documentation on rebuilding the engine. Also any pointers and advice ...
