Re: Cartridge emulators for 1970s forks
Hi David, Could you explain where in the forks these things go and will they work on very basic forks with crude damping rods like on my CZ's. or other oldies? Or are they only suited to later Japanese and Euro bikes. Do they screw onto the top of the damper rod? or underneath? Are they expensive ...

Re: Classic Trials rules in Australia - who is interested?
Hi All, I didn't mean any personal criticism of John or his efforts which I believe have helped to challenge and inform us. I personally wont be around in the class for much longer . Classics in Victoria is all but dead ( My involvement probably helped kill it!) and bums on seats interstate or rule ...

Re: Classic Trials rules in Australia - who is interested?
Hi All, Interesting to note the opinions from two extreme ends of the spectrum, one for 'systematic change' and one from the 'bums on seats' point of view. To get some clear perspective perhaps we need to find out how many people that the changes (If any) may affect. In Victoria there are only two ...

Re: Basket Cases
Hi Greg, I was told don't worry about the swingarm "They all do that!" I would repair the frame with some good quality long strand spaghetti as this is much stronger than original Fantic frame tube. Make sure it is 'AL Dente'.

Re: Showcase Time - Classic era bikes
Hi John , I almost look like I know what I'm doing in that pic! I could have bought a WSK from Jonny Munn at Classic Style in Seaford many years ago and it had the squarish cases as seen on the bikes in your posting. I wasn't sure what it was although I did look it up in my Tragatch but decided at ...

Re: Villiers 32A Chaincase oil quantity
Thanks hillbilly, There is two bolts one at the bottom, obviously the drain plug and one, not all that much higher which I thought could not possibly be the level plug. As you say if this is the level plug, the case could only hold 75mls or so. In other words the oil is to lubricate the primary ...

Villiers 32A Chaincase oil quantity
Hi All, Does any one know the oil quantity required for the clutch and primary chain case for a Villiers 32A? My Vibsa has the slim cases but not the real slim invicar type. Is one particular oil better than another for these engines? I was going to use ATF. I have a very comprehensive workshop ...

Re: Basket Cases
Hi Greg, Check the swingarm for twist as well, and the bottom , under engine tubes, if they are flattened the headstem gets more raked out. Good luck. I was quoted $1300 to jig and have my frame checked! OOPS! Needless to say I didn't bother and went by eye, which works much better after beer ...

Re: fitting tubeless Michelin rears to tube type rims
Hi All, I still don't know why you need a lanyard and sharkfin for your personal safety but can fit a Tubeless tyre to your old bike that can roll off the rim at any moment and throw you down the road when you are belting back to the tent with your scorecard. Simply doesn't make sense to me. What ...
