Re: Oil in flywheel housing
Thank you for the ideas. Now that you mention it, the gearbox oil was a pinky colour (since it was ATF) and the oil in the flywheel housing was brown. I'll remove stator and see if I can see where the seal is leaking.

Oil in flywheel housing
Somehow I managed to post this in "Wanted" Doh!
I removed the flywheel cover on my TY175 and found a puddle of what appears to be gearbox oil in the bottom of the housing. I have recently replaced the crank seals with new genuine seals. The bike is running fine - no excessive smoke and power is ...

Re: TY175 crank seals
Thanks for the advice. I've ordered some genuine seals and will see how they go. At least my non-genuine seals were better than what was in there before - the previous owner had replaced the seals but put them in the wrong side, then wondered why it wouldn't idle!!
Cheers, Ade

TY175 crank seals
Hello,
A while ago I replaced the crank seals on my TY175. Today, in our club trial the bike developed an electrical fault - misfiring badly. It was raining heavily so I thought water had got into the points (I checked the kill switch). When I got home and removed the flywheel cover there was a ...

Re: ty175 crank seals
The ignition is CDI, but not one of the US or UK kits. It is a bodge-up by a previous owner - looks like CDI unit from a suzuki. The stator plate has been modified to accept the coils, and drilled with countersunk holes to mount it to the crankcase. As far as I can see this means the timing cannot ...

ty175 crank seals
Hello,
The crankshaft oil seal on the flywheel side of the engine of my ty175 is knackered which explains the oily residue under the flywheel and all over the stator (points have been replaced by electronic ignition which I guess is why it kept running). Is it possible to pry this seal out without ...
