TY250 R (Pinky) Fuel problems

Hi all at the Brains trust, Ive reacenty taken pocessions of a Pinky, was very happy to take it out for its first day on the weekend, all was good untill after doing a few loops of a hill climb section and the engine started to "lean out' like a two stroke does when its running out of fuel.

Barrell and piston to suit BETA Techno, a 94 model {the yellow and black one}
i've been having problems with water in the oil and water in the exhaust.
thers is chip and crack in the barrell right on the inner o-ring and the gases are putting pressure on the coolent system and forcing water past ...

The Ossa TR280i, how good is it?

I've been looking the one for sale on this site for a bit now, and are torn between a Sherco or a Ossa.
I've always been told "Never buy the first model of a car/bike. let them work out the bugs for a couple of years."
So you people out there who took the plunge, whats the verdict?

Base gasket no.
Brand new clutch case and water pump cover and shaft and seals
it was a series of events that prompted the repairs, this bike sat for a few years before a got it, the first time out on it the oil seals started leaking ...
