Yep David HDPE pipe is translucent until carbon is added to make it black some add the carbon on the sides only.
Think beer line in pubs its HDPE and translucent so you can see if the lines are dirty!
But you have to think long term the plastics will be affected by the fuel in its various formula's ...

ON the plastics affected by fuel. Most plastics have issues with petro chemicals permeating through the plastic upsetting paint and stickers.

Being an old school plumber I can support that the tank rollers can roll tanks and or by hand bull nose veranda iron did hundreds of bullnose sheets and hundreds of tanks a lot soldered and then glued with sealant !

Hey Roger can I say I have always enjoyed seeing the old classics taking part in event (not that I have been to many of late).
I agree the skill set may be lost in time but its good blokes like you who help stir the interest and keep them turning up.

In 2010 I got my first new motorcycle EVER a new Sherco 250 second time at a trial out gave it some and it wheeled off and I stood off and watched it fall in a pile of boulders.
No injury just devo about the scratches in the fuel tank and broken lever. Still there and only marks on the bike still ...
