Fantic 240 wheel rebuilding

I haven't rebuilt any Fantic wheels before but am giving it a red hot go.
Spoking of the front wheel was today. I did the front first to ease my way towards the rear which has a flanged tubeless rim replacing the original tube type rim.
The wheels are from a Fantic 240

Re: Basket Cases

That rear sprocket looks amazing Greg. Have you had a test ride yet to see what first gear is like?
Is that the same :Bultaco: Alpina you rode at Conondale years ago?

Re: Magazine Articles

A friend from my work in 1978 bought one of these new (a 212 Alpina) and used it as his daily ride to work between Cleveland and Mt Gravatt TAFE.
It used to cruise along very nicely along Creek Road at 80 km/h. I can still hear it in my memory from riding along with him.
Since that time, the model ...

Re: Basket Cases

The KT250, RL250 and Cota 348 flywheels would be poor choices.
I fitted a standard 350 Alpina flywheel to my 350 Alpina recently, replacing the much lighter flywheel that the bike came with and the standard flywheel made the motor much nicer to ride with.
I think I can see a standard size flywheel ...

I did some setup experiments last weekend on this KT at a local trials property and tried getting a good photo with a new camera

Re: Stuck rings in two strokes

Excellent. Thanks Kurt.
I can't see my riding style suddenly becoming wild enough to keep them clean so I'll give one of those a go.

Stuck rings in two strokes

A side effect of the way modern two stroke premix oil works is that in trials use, piston rings can become stuck in their grooves, causing ring blowby, which causes loss of performance and uneven running.
I used to ride a fair bit at a property that had a big hill with mobile phone tower on top and ...

TY250 fork tube replacement

A couple of years ago I crashed this TY250 on some granite rocks which deeply scratched the left fork tube.
As a temporary fix, I smoothed down the raised edges of the scratches with a fine abrasive stone and filled the grooves with epoxy resin. The repair worked well but my intention was to fix it ...

Re: Long term ownership issue with OKO K101 carburetor

I agree completely on that one David. I have bought a new float needle for one of mine and my M199 will need one soon.
Graham, I've just ordered some new float needles because the one on the Majesty only worked well for a few days after I adjusted the float tab then played up again yesterday. I ...

Long term ownership issue with OKO K101 carburetor

I've been enjoying the performance benefits of OKO K101 carburetors on five of my old bikes for many years.
Because they work so well, I've been recommending them for use on two stroke twinshock trials bikes.
Because I've always banged on about how good they are to anyone who would listen, I thought ...
