Re: TY250(1974)

Yeah..I can't believe that I actually got my license on my TY and rode it to work.
But it was really fun to ride and felt safe amongst the traffic..plus I could easily do wheelies and show off a bit.
Wouldn't be a good idea now days
Thanks for the advice.. I still have some wear on my current ...

Re: TY250(1974)EbayPlastic Kit

Thanks guys...I will keep a look out for some plastic guards. Then I must look for a seat assembly.
Looking forward to pottering around on the 'old girl' this season.(mainly in the back yard mowing down the weeds :-))

Re: TY250(1974)EbayPlastic Kit

What's your opinion on FG as opposed to plastic?
I'm thinking moulded plastic is better.
Interested in your thoughts.

Re: TY250(1974)

Thanks David.
I contacted Titman's and they will make me a 60t alloy flat chain wheel for $120.
Sounded reasonable.
Is the Talam alloy better than what I have used in the past?
I believe a good quality alloy with 60t should wear very well.
It does mean a large cost to replace everything though.

Re: TY250(1974)

Thought I would keep this thread alive by asking does anyone know where I can obtain an alloy rear sprocket(flat is OK) in 428 with anywhere from 52t to 60t?
David, I like the idea of retaining 428 if possible for the reasons you outlined above..but..if unsuccessful I might have to consider those ...

Re: TY250(1974)

Thanks David..I will check out the availability of those 428H sprockets and chain wheels.
<<I did have to use countersink head screws though to prevent the heads of the standard screws from rubbing on the swingarm.>>
The c/s screws would help a lot to reduce sheer force. I don't believe my screws ...

Re: TY250(1974)

Thanks guys..yes I tried a 'o' ring..it was a tight squeeze..might stick with the 'racing' chains and alloy chain wheel..hopefully they are better than they used to be. Now it is 'retired' it will have an easy life.(like it's owner)
A quick review of the 'iron'
