The first ride. Harvey Range in NQ. Met a group of trials riders who ride every Sunday, mainly modern stuff, they were very helpful and friendly.

Re: Ossa Explorer Questions

The book (Clymer manual) shows that the HT coil has two low voltage connections. One comes from the stator and is black. The other comes from the stator to the HT coil and continues on to the ignition switch and is blue. The ignition switch is shown as being the type that connects the blue wire to ...

Re: Ossa Explorer Questions

I owned an Explorer new back in the 70s and I loved it. best trail bike I've ever had. However the brakes were crap. I was also told back then that fitting a kill switch would damage the motoplat ignition. So to kill two birds with one stone I fitted a decompressor in the second plug hole. This ...

Re: Trials Tyres

I recently fitted Kendas to my 158 as they were DOT approved and I wanted to use it as a trail bike, I don't expect great traction for trials from them but I might yet be surprised. They seem to be the same size as the orginal Pirellis which were vertually unworn but perished.
They weren't all that ...

Re: Specifications for 158

Hello, those who have followed this thread thanks for all the input. My 158 is now going well. Here is the stuff I've learnt along the way which may be of use to some other poor bugger trying to do the same, that is make a 158 street legal.
If the bike is devoid of lights when you get it there ...

Thanks

Well after much head scratching and net trawling I have finally got my Bully 158 ready for rego. The final hurdles were blocked jets and a bad earth on the horn switch. The bike had sat for a considerable time, years ,with just the occasional kick over and odd start up. During this time the ...

Re: Specifications for 158

Thanks everyone for the input. I had the bike running really well two weeks ago, the lights even worked. Since then I've been giving it a bit of TLC and now the thing won't start!! I'm going to put a new set of points and condensor in it and hope to fire it up again soon. I have spark but not a ...

Re: Specifications for 158

Thanks graham I'll give that a go. I'm off to a bike show tomorrow and I'm putting the Sherpa on display with my Metralla. I've taken the speedo drive out at the moment and with the spacer in there is no problem at all it all goes together very easily without drama. I'll give your idea a go, you ...
