Re: TY 175 timing other than stock
Hard to believe how quickly a decade slips by. I sold this bike last October. Never did get back on how it runs. It worked pretty well but only used it as a spare as it was a little flat on the very bottom due to having what I think was an enduro piston. I had just turned 80 and decided to get out ...

That looks easier than what I had in mind. I like the nice straight cut for adding the extension. Thanks.

Re: Is it worthwhile to lengthen swingarm TY 175?
Thanks David, I can always count on you for a thoughtful reply. I think I will lengthen a spare swingarm and give it a try.
Thank you too PA. Don't think I will change the pivot point on the swingarm but it raises some interesting possibilities.

Is it worthwhile to lengthen swingarm TY 175?
Can you feel the difference? What about turning radius? How much length? What are the advantages?
I have tried running adjuster for chain all the way to rear and can't ride well enough to detect a difference.

Re: 75 rl250 orange colour
I doubt this does you any good but Ace Hardware here in the USA carries a rattle can orange that is close.

This is a vintage club that has most of their events in New Mexico, Colorado and Wyoming. They encourage modern bikes to ride support. A group of big guys ride TY 80s on some really aggressive sections.

Re: TY 175 engine noise resolved
That all aluminum clutch basket came from an engine with 525-002*** which is an early B. It had a 525 something inside it so I assume a TY175. Have a few hours on it now and all is quiet and shifts the best of any TY175 I have ridden.

Re: TY 175 engine noise resolved
Thanks for the reply David. The splines where the internal clutch basket mates with the transmission input shaft are what I was referring to, both being in good shape with nearly zero play. The newer one has a steel insert molded right into the basket while the older one is made entirely from ...

TY 175 engine noise resolved
I had a noise in my 1980 (one of the 76's they kept making for Europe)TY 175 that sounded like a slack or floating gear coming in contact with another gear and bouncing off only to come in contact again. Ding. ding, ding. while under deceleration. The sound could be duplicated to a quieter degree ...
