Tyre changing

Changed the tyre on my bike today and was feeling prety pleased with myself......until I discovered that I didn't put the nut or the little plate thing on the tube before I put it in.....So how important are those bits, can I get bye without them or are they absolutely needed in there?

Re: TY mono fork seals.

Thanks for that David,I can remember (sort of) doing a set in my GS 750 about thirty five years ago but there were no bottom screws etc.I might have a yarn to the local dirt bike bloke as a lack of tools could stump me on this one. Thanks again much appreciated.

TY mono fork seals.

I am thinking of doing my own fork seals, but I'm not real confident.I have been watching a couple of You Tube clips but mine seem somewhat different,I also have the service manual which I sort of understand.A couple of questions for those that have done this if I could ask are,What sort of head ...

Plugs?

Tried to get a replacement plug the other day but was unable to source the exact one I was after,a BR6ES.After talking to the mechanic I left with what I thought was a BR7ES thinking a tad cooler probably wasn't a bad thing. On closer inspection at home the plug is actually a B7ES.Does anyone know ...

What Tool?

I'm wanting to remove the front wheel from my '91 TY and I'm needing a Star shaped bit (male) with I think 12 points about 13 mm accross to undo the axle. What do I ask the person behind the counter for? I'm not familiar with Torx bits but am guessing this is going to be to easy a fix.Alternatively ...

Re: Caution do not rebore the cylinder?

Thanks Mate, that helps a lot.Mine is a little bit rattly but sounds like I shouldn't have to sell the first born into slavery to afford a fix when I decide to go ahead (famous last words),which should be sooner rather than later I'm guessing.Again thanks for the input.

Caution do not rebore the cylinder?

G'day all,I was just thumbing through the manual ('91 TY 250 R) of my bike reading bits and pieces when I came across this warning with regards to the cylinder. It staes 'Score marks-repair or replace, use #600-800 wet sand paper' and then the caution. So,if one needs to rebuild at some stage what do ...

Re: Bad Idea?

Yep,tiny little 'barbs' protruding, can only realy feel them with my nail. It's a very narrow stone out of a jig (Lansky).I'll see how I go,might hold off on the filling as I'm worried about taking to much off. Thanks for that Dave and Phoenix.....this is a great site for the not so knowledgable like ...
