Re: Letting the bike go
Wish I had $1 for every time I have thrown a bike to save myself - I could afford a new bike

Re: Letting the bike go
It sounds rather disrespectful to my bikes, and some may shudder at my response.
BUT I always say if you are riding a bike in the scrub you should be prepared to bin it. If not don't ride it in the scrub.
Now I don;t mean we should be throwing the bike away at the first sign of trouble. I just mean that the bike is fixable and so it should be sacrificed before me.
I also find, as others will have found. As I get older I tend to take longer to mend, and I seem to think it hurts more than it used to...

As long as you also have an ample supply of expendable parts and with good fork protectors the bike is fairly indestructible. A few cosmetic marks give the bike character

Re: Letting the bike go
In 2010 I got my first new motorcycle EVER a new Sherco 250 second time at a trial out gave it some and it wheeled off and I stood off and watched it fall in a pile of boulders.
No injury just devo about the scratches in the fuel tank and broken lever. Still there and only marks on the bike still.
My fault wasn't use to the machine and thought I was on my old one !!!
