New bike, sorry but what is it?

Postby Rob Martin » Tue Jan 31, 2017 3:30 pm

Hi all,
I keep reading that trials riding will help my appaling effort to stay on top of my enduro bike. So my brother and I have picked up a trials bike to play with. Don't want to offend anyone but can someone please let me know what I have purchased and where to start buying some spares. Rear brake is apparently ceased otherwise it goes. Photos attached.
Thanks in advance
Rob

Hi Rob,

You have a :montesa 314 which were also sold as a :Honda: TLR 260. Not to be confused with all the other :Honda: TLRs that are 4 stroke.

Now for all the good points:

The rear rim is Tubeless!

It's a 250cc or 260cc Honda trials bike. The one in Greg's photo is badged as a Montesa Cota and was made in early 1990s.
I think the same bike was also sold badged as a Honda in Japan and some have been imported as grey imports to Australia over the years. I helped a local try and sell his about 15 years ago.
I know the name Rob Martin from somewhere a long time ago and am trying to remember

Thanks all for your info. I collect in a fortnight and hope to get it going in a month or so. Need to find some spares. Rear gaurd is obviously required.

Is there a Newcastle NSW based trials club? I've asked around but most here are either trials or motocross.

Thanks again
Rob

The closest Trial events to Newcastle are held at various properties around Denman by the Denman Twinshock Trials Club.
Events at Pacific Park (run by either Pacific Park Trials Club or Manly Warringah MCC) are a close second.
