For the youngies who really want to get into the spirit of riding to the no-stop rules, you should start practising now so you get it right at the trial. Some techniques from back then that might help you are:
The pivot turn. This is for turns that are tighter than you can ride around. Plant the inside foot at the imaginary centre of the turn arc and either drag the front around (for learners), or preferably, after planting the foot, do a slow wheelie and while the bike is balanced on the rear wheel, and still rolling forwards, pivot the bike to the new direction, bring the front down, and continue on. Bernie Schreiber is famous for popularising a fancy version of this by doing it without the footing.
Riding with the clutch lever out. This is probably the hardest technique for youngies, but if you can manage it, it is the best way to avoid the possibility of stopping accidentally by "habit". Speed and drive in tight turns are managed by modulating the rear brake.
Some people find that setting the idle so that the motor stops if the throttle is closed helps with clutch-out riding. It is of most benefit on bikes with large motors/flywheels.

The Browena Twin Shock event is penciled onto our calendar along with the Connandale event in Nov.
Its good to have the date change clarified, thanks Wazza.
I know that most of our club members will be at Broowena no matter how cold it is. Get the bon fire ready guys - we're coming .

David, a good example of a pivot turn is in 'Naturally Free' with Mick Andrews on a TY80 and a TY250 during a demo out here in the 70's. I might try to do 1 in the next trial. Maybe not..

Old thread and maybe no-one's subscribed, but I just found this via Google so thought it worth replying.
RTRA recognises that trials riders are finding it increasingly difficult to find decent places to practice. We're keen to include trials 'precincts' in gazetted Off Road Vehicle Areas.
We're currently working with the Department of Environment and Conservation to redevelop the Pinjar Off Road Vehicle Area and we've included a trials precinct in the master plan.
Once things get further advanced in the planning we will want to engage with the trials community to get a better feel for the types of practice facilities that should be provided.
We're also always prepared to get involved in any negotiations with landowners, particularly where a landowner is reluctant to allow a trials competition or practice because of perceived liability issues.
All we ask is that anyone requesting RTRA assistance joins the Association, as it is absolutely a case of strength in numbers!

Good luck with this.
We are seeing more and more difficulty in keeping trials useable properties in SE Qld and we need MA and MQ to take up the fight with local government which I know MQ has started.
This is not a problem exclusive to trials events and the off road speed branches of our sport will suffer as much as anyone else. We have lost three properties in the last few months because local authorities are demanding that property owners apply for a Development Application (DA) and of course there is a cost involved which will ultimately go back to the clubs for the use of the land, of course, only if he applies for the DA. !!
Anyone who is ignoring this ongoing problem will suddenly find there is nowhere to ride except for going hundreds of kms into the bush to find properties.

I also ride enduro/trailrides - this is what we are up against in Queensland.
The government can't even get a motorcycle park off and running. If it does happen, it will maybe cater for about 1% of all off road motorcycles in SEQld??
The submissions from 30 people (or 30 from a couple of groups) is all it takes to delay or stop it.

I don't think these objections are going to stop the Wyaralong development. it might if it were a private operator or club submitting a development application, but the government has already announced this as a fait a compli.
The big difference is that the government actually wants this one to happen because it thinks that having one 745 Ha trail bike park will solve all the issues of trail bike riding in SEQ.
