First try WD40 and a soft hammer
Then try gentle flame heating and water cooling and WD40 and a soft hammer
Then carefully push (spring) the frame sides slightly apart and cut through the swingarm bolt with a hacksaw. You may have to cut through both ends, depending on the frame geometry. This is usually done with the bike upside down.

Things not to do:
use a press
use a porta-power
bend the frame

Once the swingarm is free of the frame, you can usually then push the inner bush out of the outer bushes then push out the outer bushes

Well I finally got my swing arm off but removing the bushes was a challenge.
I had expected bronze bearings but it had rubber bushes

This is what is shown as replacement parts as I had expected.

Do :montesa usually have rubber or bronze swing arm bushes :?

Looks like I pulled the swing arm apart for nothing :(

Is the kick start shaft easy to replace. Do you have to split the crank cases, or just the clutch cover ?
I have a new kick start shaft on order, so if it's easy I'll do it !

No its only a side cover.....i think the root causes of the twist in the shaft is of the following
both bad tuneincorrect tune and or timing
and poor setting up of the kick starter stop.....many i believe like me tried lifting the kick starter to get the bxxxxx thing going.....but thats a fail as kicking past the footpegs ( mine had a string on it for such occasion)
Thus twisting the shaft
MY ISSUES WERE THE POINTS AND A DAMP MAG.
Im running a NGK BP6ES PLUG and it loves a fat idle(rich)
I have scotch keyed the starter for now.....it already stuffed so why not...as the previous owner welded a kick starter on (and a lot of other bloody things too) so a lot of my time has been wasted dremelling this barbarism out of the bike
The frame on this one had broken steering stops the result of previous misadventure and on dressing the frame down i found it cracked and twisted.....Fortunately some one sent me to aldo and all is good on the frame and Im yet to finish the tank as it stooped the forks in the crash....Had enough bog on the tank to look like an EK holden from manly

hope this helps

Picked up the frame from the sand blaster and painted it with KBS Rust Seal.
It's a self levelling paint so you can paint with a brush and it still comes up smooth.

That looks great =D>

- how much paint did that take and is it just one coat required?

I bought a 300ml tin at $30 and did 2 coats on the frame, swing arm and side stand.
Probably only used about 100ml.

I'll start searching.

Any advice on how to remove the steering lock. I don't have the key

I had the friendly folk at Multisecure locksmiths in Penrith pick my steering lock and make a pair of keys.

Now all I have to do is fit the dust cover back on.
