Postby Rob W » Sun Dec 28, 2008 10:53 pm

Hi Rob there is a way of finding out who is selling it through e-bay, probably slightly incorrect usage of their facilities though.

What you need to do is to put a bid on it ( you need to do this before the system will allow you this information ). then write down the sellers ID and the Item number. Then go to advanced search, then in the bottom left click on find contact information. E-bay will respond by sending you an E-mail of the sellers details aswell as sending the seller you details.

Cheers Gordo

Hey that's a bit sneaky Gordo...............I'm on to it.

This is what I was sent back when I asked for information about the restoration:

"It has never had restoration done just a respray
and maintains it is the original trials model.
engine/frame numbers are not matching
frame TL250E-2001794 engine TL250E-2001816
thy may not match from new ?"

Anyone know if Engine/Frame numbers should match on TL's?

Ta

from what i know of 70's hondas, the frame and engine numbers almost never match(if they do its purely by coincidence) but are usually within a couple hundred of each other. There's a very good chance this is the original engine.

Rob I don't know why you gave the link for the TL. you will probably end up biding against someone who got the link from you. already there is someone on the trials bike site asking Q's about the TL.
I remain unbias and wish you both luck ( I say I am unbias but actualy I am bias toward people on the trials website so actualy I wish both of you equal luck and not anyone else o e-bay ).
In fact if it was down to me I would make contact with eachother on the trials website. I don't think this contravenes ( ? ) any laws / rules, if it does, don't hold me responsible.

What is it they say with mortgage adverts?

You should consider wether the above advise is suitable for you.

Cheers Gordo

Gordo I knew that bike would go for more than I can afford right at the moment. So I posted it in the hope someone here might buy it. I've just looked and I'm already out of the running - sods! I'd be surprised if it doesn't reach $1500 and if it is as good as it seems to be, then $2000 wouldn't be too expensive. I just hope someone buys it and uses it, not locks it away in a collection.

Honda engine numbers only match in the second digit eg= TL250 xoxxxx ko first model, TL250 x2xxxx k1,second model and so on , 1973 and 1974 respectivly, KAWASAKI should match within twenty digits, suzuki dont match at all, yamaha match frame and engine always! this goes with all models, mx , road and trials, .

I had to laugh with the part in the description on eBay about the TL250 being developed from the works Hondas of Eddie Lejeune considering the works Hondas that Eddie rode were built many years after the TL250 was designed.

Welcome back David, hope you had a good break.

Isn't everything written on ebay supposed to be taken with a grain (bucket) of salt?

Thanks Rob. For once, twinshock trials took a back seat to electric model aircraft and model drift cars.
What's with the TL250 thing anyway? Are you thinking of building a twinshock sidecar outfit? Those things are pretty good for that.
