I've watched this forum for a couple of days now and am very surprised that no one has yet commented on the headline article. A WORLD ROUND IN OZ, wow, now that's something. And something I would've thought we've all been waiting for. Bestill my beating heart - I'll be there with bells on.
A hearty well done to Col Scott and TCV.
Cheers,
Greg Cramond

Feet up, as always!

You are right,
Well done guys, this is possibly the biggest thing to hit the this sport.
I am heavily involved in mountain biking and many years ago a world MTB round was held in Cairns, this (indirectly) lead to World Cup and World Championships in Australia, this helped mountain biking grow and be accepted as a mainstream sport.
I know how hard the lobbying and back room planning is, so this is just awesome.
This sport will grow and prosper because of this. The long suffering moto trials importers and distributors may get the volumes of sales they have dreamed of.
Again Col - WELL DONE
I will be there

Re: WAKE UP AUSTRALIA!
Great news .....does anybody know whether interstate Juniors can get funding assistance to attend as spectators/volunteers......especially in light of inspiring the new generation of riders.
Maybe Sport and rec QLD that sort of thing? or MA directly.

I'd rather be a D grade participant than an A grade spectator....
Re: WAKE UP AUSTRALIA!
Maybe our TDN riders could be given the role of "promoters" when in Europe this year? Make a huge effort to obtain the best results ever and spread the word about what a great country this would be to visit. The more international riders that make the journey, the better the event will be, both for the sport and the local businesses.

Five replies to this news.
Any other motor sport in Australia and the forum would be just going off.
I guess that is why trials is at best a back water sport in Australia.
I must go and watch this round I'm thinking it will be the last maybe they might get a second year before they pull it.
Didn't they have a demo world trials round in Vic a few years ago?

Re: WAKE UP AUSTRALIA!
When the 2005 International Trial was held in Victoria its success was due to just a few very keen individuals who had the drive to secure some talented international riders to make the long haul to Australia to compete. Their main goal was to show we have the terrain the people and the clubs with the ability to cater for such a world class event if ever we were fortunate enough to be allocated a world round by FIM.
For Colin to have secured this opportunity to highlight the worlds best in our sport right in our own backyard is priceless.
Nothing happens overnight and anyone who can in any way help to ensure this opportunity is successful must make the effort to contact the promoters to offer there assistance in any way you can NOW. There can be no better way to promote our form of skilled motorcycling than to stage a well run world class event. Trials Victoria has some of Australia's most experienced clubs and a wealth of capable personell to set an event that will have our international visitors wanting to return.

Re: WAKE UP AUSTRALIA!
Yes this is fantastic news!!
Congrats to all concerned especially Colin by the sound of it. I only noticed the announcement today after going for a ride/setup day yesterday for our next trial. Maybe everyone was too busy setting sections to comment!
Having been lucky enough to see some world rounds in Europe, I can highly recommend all the trials community let all their friends and anyone remotely interested in bikes to get to VIC next year.
Brilliant.................
