Interesting. The bore is at 66mm -standard, yet the old DT piston indicated it's +0.25mm, yet it fitted.
No appreciable wear witnessing on the piston - could it have been turned down to fit by a P.O? Forseti on right.

Ring pin locations look good.
Are the crown heights the same? Slide one piston pin into both pistons at the same time to see if the crown heights are the same. In the photo, the piston pin hole in the Forseti looks like it could be lower than the piston that came out, relative to the crown.
Pistons are not normally machined down.
How experienced was the person measuring the bore?

Very experienced, -a specialist. Yes, certainly very unusual to machine down an OS piston to match a STD bore I know.
Anyway, if it's not sloppy in the bore we'll give the Forseti a try (I'm doing this remotely!) -the ring gaps are within spec.
