Gday all
Im hoping somebody could walk me through the pit falls the do's and dont's or an easy way to change the fork oil on the TY.
Can I change it without removing the forks?
Should I totally disassemble and do the fork seals while Im at it?
What do you think?
Thanks Drakey
Could someone please walk me through TY250a Fork oil change

If the fork seals are not leaking, leave them alone
Find/make a male hex tool to unscrew the fork caps. The Ty came with a tool when new.
Go for a ride to get any sediment suspended in the oil.
Support the bike (under the motor) so the forks extend fully
Loosen the top triple clamp fork tube bolts.
Tie the steering so it stays straight ahead
Put oil catchers under the drain screws
Loosen the fork caps till the o-rings are exposed (this depressurises the forks)
Remove the drain screws
Remove the fork caps the rest of the way - beware - on this bike there is usually a fair bit of spring preload so hold against the fork springs as you near the end of the thread or the cap will jump off and might damage you or the cap thread.
Leave the oil to drain out
Make a clean spot to put the springs and spacers
Remove the springs washers and spacers
If you want you can flush them out with turps or kero but unless you think there is sediment/sludge in there I wouldn't bother with flushing
Compress the forks fully and chock them there
Fit the drain screws
Fill to 125mm from the top of the tubes carefully measured
Extend the forks
Replace the springs, spacers and washers
Fit the caps
Tighten the top triple clamp tube bolts

Re: Could someone please walk me through TY250a Fork oil change
The A model fork sliders and maybe springs/spacers are a bit different to the others but the only difference it makes to changing the oil is that the A forks take a different amount of oil to get to the 125mm level than the others. 125mm is fine for all the TY250s.
You can tell which forks you have as one type has the drain screws facing out and the other has them facing to the rear. Can't remember which is which though right now.

The fork oil change posting has just been edited because I forgot to say to compress the forks to set the fork oil height
