2007 SCORPA SY250R Suspension base settings
OK guys I have a copy of the 08 manuals for the Scorpa, but with suspension changes between years I am left a bit short.
I have read a great little note from a bloke called Jon Stoodley on Trials Suspension Tips which has also been a great start.
What I would like to know is , does someone have the actual 2007 specs for the SY250R
The rear Sachs shock seems to only have preload adjustment.
The Paioli forks appear to have preload adj on the left and Compression (Estensione) on the right (I counted 36 clicks and it appears to be at 28 clicks out)
Stock adj settings would be a help inluding oil levels and wts in the front forks.
Thanks in advance guys.

Hi OZX
Rear shock does have a dampening adjuster. it is found on the top of the Shock absorber body, and can be accessed easily with a long bladed flat screwdriver. No need to remove any body panels, the access hole is just next to the bolt holding the front of the rear fender. The standard setting from France is in the middle of the adjustment range.
Standard settings for a 2007 Scorpa are:
Front Paoli forks are Preload on riders left. Standard from Factory is the adjuster nut level with the top of the fork. A great majority of riders find more preload "their" setup. Up to 10 turns in is common. Saying that, a lot of riders also go too stiff which does not help when bouncing the front and rear ends, and makes traction more difficult.
Riders right is compression/rebound adjuster - standard 10 clicks in.
Fork oil is 5W
Left leg 370cc +or-5cc
Right leg 355cc +or-5cc
There is some great resources on the net about suspension set up, and riding techniques.
Check out THE TRIALS TRAINING CENTRE in the USA for some useful stuff.
I can forward you a 2007 user manual and parts list if you like, just fire me off an email, or PM with your details.
I tend to not put everything on our website as the PDF manuals take up a huge bandwidth on our little server, but if there is anything you need , do not hesitate to call.
All the best

Hey Paul
The rear shock is the same Sachs model as on the 07.
For 2008 Scorpa has gone to the Marzocchi front end, same as found on the current Gassers.
As delivered from the factory both the preload and damper adjusters come wound right off for transportation. That is the "standard", but not what I would use as a base line obviously.
cheers

At last the myth of factory setting has been busted!!! Thanks Paul, I have been trying to tell people for years that a bike from the factory is not a "Factory Bike'. I see the same question raised in other forums and have to say.... Learn how to ride and set the bike up to suit your riding. Why anyone wants to emu-late (a flightless bird without a watch) a standard manufacturing process or as you point out a shipping setting has had me stumped. I have never quite come to terms with the concept of a base setting when rider size/weight, skill and personal preference has such an impact on suspension. Sure if you want to test a component to see if it still works the way it was designed a base setting would help but unless you know how it should perform (and have the gauges to test) why not ask an A grader to rider it and tell you what they think.
I haven't found a red plater yet that didn't know more about set up than me......but I did beat an X plater between sections at the last trial.... does that count????
