Stu wrote:David, with the info that you have on the TY350 regarding rego, how easy is it to rego a TY250a? Worth it or not?
Stu No idea about the TY350N but the local guy's tin-tank TY250S? with all the blinkers and whatnots already there cost about $1600 to get registered the first time in Queensland. Of course that got him an ADR compliance plate so next year it just cost the usual yearly rego fee. TY250A is dead simple up here because it is pre 1976 (pre ADRs). No blinkers or battery required. I think the headlight needs to be two beams and there needs to be a working taillight and brakelight and horn all of which are standard on TY250A anyway. The cost to the owner is just the rego fee and the "roadworthy" (green slip to southerners and "over the pits" to some others) provided they get everything working. David
Thanks for the pictures. The S model was the 250 we had released here when the 350 N came out. The picture you posted of the 250 N is the same as our 350's. The 250 N was released in europe and was ridden in the world rounds.
I have a TY250S that has full NSW rego. I beleive this model came with a compliance plate when bought new in Australia.
No problem getting it regoed just had to get a blue slip and that was all. The RTA had no details on the bike re power, weight dimension etc so i just used what was in the manual and they were happy with that.
Now that's a sneaky way around the RTA Badbowie! Thanks David, I had thought of getting the TY rego'd a while back but it seemed too bloody hard. Now with this info, I might look into it. Saves getting a fine if I stray on Forestry land.

The 250 S came with the compliance plate factory fitted. Regarding pom's ty 350. What did the previous owners use it for? Those tyres do not look like regulation trials universals.
I have to admit I'm more than a little ashamed of the way the TY looked when I picked it up - when the photo was taken I was on my way having picked it up on the coast and having a weekend trying to hurt myself on DRZ. I don't think the previous owner really used it all, I asked about the tyres but he didn't seem to think they were unusual. Hopefully after some love it will look more like it is supposed to, but then there is always money to spend the DRZ or the KTM or the Grizzly................. I am looking at gear levers in the US for about AUD$30 - anyone got any idea what a genuine Oz one will cost - I'm a long way from anywhere and the local dealer doesn't seem to be able to give prices until the part arrives. My bike is totally missing the spring loaded chain tension arm - how important is one of them on a trials bike (excuse my ignorance) Pom
