Hi All,
As Nic mentioned in the Arena Trials Discussion on this forum,
“Is there actually a trials Australia committee or anything like that? or is it all just run by the individual clubs?”
Well I know that there is a committee but I have no idea what they have done for Australian Trials this year.
Does anyone else feel they do not communicate to the rest of the trials community on anything they are working on?
Are they even working on anything?
Who would know?
I am very disappointed that we have commissioners that form a committee but don’t appear to do anything or if they are doing something its in secret and only in the interests of those commissioners and not the entire trials community.
What about the 90 second rule. Are they working on that to be put into the GCR’s for 2009 so we can be in line with the rest of the world?
Commissioners please feel free to comment.
Thanks.

Re: Aust Trials Commission
Hey Promo,
Good idea to start this post! If there is a committee... then they are the ones who all of us as trials enthusiasts should be discussing these ideas with to promote the sport in Australia. As you said they seem to have distanced themselves from the community, and it doesn't seem like they must be doing much..
I look forward to a response from someone of relevance in here to see what we can do!

Re: Aust Trials Commission
I sense the frustration in the above posts, however let us first seek to understand their perspective before we criticize.
If there is someone around from this "Committee" can they bring us up to speed on what they are doing and where they will be taking the sport? Can we help themin any way?
Maybe this Forum would be an excellent tool to use for their communication. But remember that not everyone into trials accesses this website or are into computers. The Committee may have a formal communiction system that has been mandated, I have no idea. Remember communication works best when it is two way. We need to let them know we would appreciate some information and I am sure they would want our input.
Let us ask so they can enlighten us.

Re: Aust Trials Commission
There is a vacancy on the Trials Commission Board at the moment I believe.
I am sure Trevor Bennett will be glad to accept nominations via this forum.

Re: Aust Trials Commission
After just returning from a 15 year absense from the sport I was dumbfounded how little the sport has grown in this country.
However I was amazed to see how many companies have been set up trying to make a buck selling trials bikes and gear. I work in business development in a completely different field and my boss constantly encourages myself and other work colleagues to get involved in associations and groups that will bennefit myself and my company. All it needs is for some of the individuals in these businesses to get as involved in every way possible to promote the sport. Taking a position on the trials commision board would be a good start.
After all growing the sport means growing the market they are selling to
my 2 cents worth

Re: Aust Trials Commission
Hi Toby
Thanks for your kind words to enlighten us all. Being fairly new to Trials one does not always see and hear everything. The many times I have tried to download the Rule book my system has locked up. I have managed to cut and paste the Trials section once so I know I can open the file. Will try again. That is if we are talking about the same book.
Just a suggestion for all us unenlightened people, is it possible to have the communications from the Commission in a single place in the index so new people can find them easy and update themselves by reading all the posts in one place, or has this already been done as well? I thought I knew this website fairly well and I know I have read some information about high level decision making but I am still learning who is who and their respective roles. So I do not always join the pieces of information together when quickly scanning the posts.
Any further input would be appreciated.

Re: Aust Trials Commission
Hey Toby,
Firstly, thanks for the reply to posts that a few of us have made regarding the issue. Whilst I think that post was prob a little too abrupt as we are all here because we have the same interest in improving the sport in whatever ways we can.
I do understand however, that some of the posts in there may have also been a bit harsh on the commission.
What we were referring to however (well at least I was anyway) is the promotion of the sport and wanting to know whether there are any plans for now or in the future of marketing the sport by the commission. Along with wanting to know their plans, a number of people, including myself, have expressed interest in helping out with the promotion of the sport wherever possible, which is why we have asked for some feedback from the committee.
At the end of the day, what we want to see is a growth in the popularity of the sport as it doesn't seem to really be happening from an outside perspective.
I think that's what we all want to see, so with the trials community that we have, we need to work together to achieve this.
Anyway, that's my thoughts.

Re: Aust Trials Commission
Just one more thought.
In my life experience if at least one person has a legitimate question (however poorly worded) as above you can expect at least four or five others to want to ask the same question but don't for fear of exposing their ignorance.
In a forum such as this I would guess that many more then four or five have the same question/s.
So for fear of showing my total ignorance of these committee issues who else is game to put up their hands and ask some questions on this issue.
In no way do I mean this to be a negative slight on any person or group. I want to keep this whole thread positive as I believe we do all want the same outcomes.
I think if a few people want to know more then there will be many other people wanting the same information. Yes we should all be better researchers. But to make the information more easily obtainable will only add to the strength of our trials community.
I for one would be prepared to complete and post a newsletter type of feedback for the Commission if I could get the information. I would think being on the Commission would be out of my experience level and resources however I am happy to help out where I can. I still do a lot of work for the DSMRA even though I don't participate in their rides any more.
If you think I can assist in any way just ask, I'm keen to start.
