We already have a Committee News category.
This could be changed to "Commission & Committee News/Updates".

Promo,

I'm going to defend the Trials Commission as I know just how much you get paid for giving up your time (that you could be out riding) to be a commissioner. I've been a commission member! Now referring to your numbered points
1. You Ask Who would know that there were vacancies on the commission? Well anyone who reads this web site should. An article was posted on here on 24/1/08 stating commission vacancies. Also anyone who reads the MA web site would know too.

2. Ok, many of the things Toby listed have not been completed only in 2008. Many of the tasks were major achievemnets for the commission and trials community so were definately worth mentioning. Lots of the things are on going, and are still being achieved in 2008. But if you want to be specific in 2008 the commission has organsied and hosted (with the help of QLD Club) The Oceanic Challenge, they have been working with all parties in MA to get a Womens TDN team approved and funding allocated and give us girls the recognition we deserve, they have organised and successfully held an AIS training camp for our up and coming stars, they have attended a 2day conference in Melbourne with all the big wigs from MA and all other commissioners, do I need to go on.....considering the 2008 Trials season is only 3 months old.

3. Yes and your lucky that you still can purchase a restricted licence!!! If it wasn't for the commission you would be paying full national price.

4.TDN team - Please tell me then would else do you think choses the TDN team????

5. You obviously haven't ever been through the process of being the Race secretary and submitting supp regs for an event. Yes there are some standard wording but each individual event has to have supp regs approved. Plus we aren't talking every club event here. The commission is only involved in the approval of Aussie Titles supp regs. Therefore they are not standard as alot changes from year to year.

6. Rules Changes - There isn't that many required but when changes need to be made its not a simple process. All state committees need to be informed and their approval given. To do this each state committee member needs to take that proposal to their club members for comment and feedback is then given to the commission through the state controlling bodies. 3 people don't just decide on the rules. As for the 90 seconds it is being trialed in NSW title rounds this year. You would expect the commission to be watching closely.

7. No they physically did not shot the DVD or burn the copies or edit it. But who do you think approached the poeple who did. Who do you think made sure the rules outlined in the DVD were correct and demonstarted clearly. Who do you think were present the whole time it was shot?

8. Junior Coaching Manual - Being an accredited coach and having facilitated most of the NSW Junior coaching days that have been held to date the coaching manual is a useful resource. The juniors have to complete all competencies to obtain and keep their licence valid. Without this coaching manual we would have no licenced Juniors and our sport would suffer! And just imagine if there were tools like you out there responsible for teaching our junior riders.

9. I agree there are many more people in our trials community that give up heaps of their time to put back into this sport we love and they too deserve credit. But the commission also should be recognised.

10. Well, if only you knew how much effort Toby has put into working with the women trials riders of Australia. He has been head coach of all the women coaching days held, he has made himself available at club and state events to assit the girls, nearly every weekend you will find Toby coaching / catching and mentoring the girls at practice venues all over NSW. The time he has put in is amazing and should be recognised. The improvements in the girls riding is outstanding and Toby deserves some of that credit.

11. I'm sure the commissioners would respond if you asked them something worth while and not just critised them.

12. Well I'll answer Starky's question..... The posts are not generally on the forum but more as news articles posted on the front page.

NOW answer CRAFTY'S question.... WHo are you? Put a name to your posts if you are going to be so negative!!!!!

Ignornace is one quality that irritates me :x

Michelle,
I wonder if your own ignorANCE irritates you. Nice to see you sticking up for your fiance when he cant answer questions and you both get to go on a nice holiday to Andorra.
Well it would be obvious to hear you throw your head in when you have received more benefits than any one rider in Australia when it comes to assistance from Moto Aust, MNSW and the trials commissions over the years with trips to the womens events and to the TDN when you didn't even have a team.
MA board of directors has the final say on the TDN team. Junior coaching costs more to the parents and will kill off more juniors than it will invite. Maybe you could do the coaching 100% free as i am sure you are using the opportunity to make money.
We could argue all day but neither of us will give in.
I find it interesting that you dont believe my questions to be "something worth while". Dont you want to know where the future of trials in australia is going?
Although my comments can be negative i originally wanted to look on the brighter side and create interest in the future of trials and get people talking about whats happening but instead people have given credit when it isn't due and the trials commission still hasn't bothered to talk to the trials community about what is actually going on. I would love to hear from the commission but they never communicate.
In a week or 2 MA will announce the mens TDN team and people will think, oh the commission has done something. Apart from reading over the applications and having a short discussion i cant see anything being done.
I remain disappointed with the communication from the commission and perhaps THE COMMISSION can educate me on what they have done and are planning for the future as no one really knows.
Best of luck at the Womens TDN.

Promo,

Your right this could go on forever and its really not worth it.

I would however just like to clarify a few things.....
Firstly, any coaching I have done and in particular with the juniors has been completey voluntary and I have made no money from it. I do it to put back into the sport I love. I want to see the sport grow and progress and continue into the future and I want to help the juniors, I actually enjoy it too so gaining money from coaching is not my motivation.

Secondly, yes I am very lucky to have had so much support from MA, MNSW, the whole trials community and many individual riders over the years and I am most appreciative of that support. I acknowledge how lucky I have been but alot of it comes from hard work and dedication.
Now I'm going to piss in my own pocket for a minute but please bear with me.......
Although I have gained alot from MA I feel that I have given alot back too. I have been involved in the sport at all levels club, state and national. I not only help my local club set, organsie and run events but often help other clubs too. I have been involved on the NSW trials sub committee and the Australian Trials commission. I regularly give up my ride to be a primary official at events too. I also feel very proud to be given the opportunity to represent my country at the World Championships and the TDN even when we didn't have a team. I still hold the best World ranking that any Australian Trials rider has gained so I feel a little investment from MA hasn't gone to waste. Whilst overseas I have been involved in all aspects of assisting the mens TDN team as well. I don't just sit back drinking Lattes racking up the MA credit card!

I agree that the future direction of the sport is of the utmost importance. I just don't agree that the trials commission are the only people responisble for it.

Ah Promo,
You seem to have a very well balanced personality. A chip on both shoulders.
Your shots at Michelle are unacceptable, and not putting your name to them, also says a lot about you.

Hey Howard
Good to see you still keep an eye open on the trials world.
I could not agree with you more with your reply.
Unfortunatly some people will not put their name to the written word and have cheap shots
at people giving it their all for the sport.
Michelle good luck at the TDN with the team you have my support GO GIRLS.

PROMO,
Michelle is the countries number 1 female rider and has been for years. The first few years Michelle represented the Australian Trials community in Europe took a hell of a lot of planning and organisation on her behalf. She has always represented us in a professional manner. Jealousy is a curse pal. Its very easy to stir the pot when no one knows your identity, but, its weak as piss. This years trip will no doubt be as succesful as the past ones with all 3 girls putting a huge amount of effort into their preparation and fitness. They couldnt ask for a more competent manager/minder combo than Toby Coleman (its a hell of a lot easier to push yourself as a rider when you have 100% confidence in your minder).

Hi folks,
What an interesting and controvertial thread PROMO has started. One which attracts comment.
My opinion is that anyone who is currently on the Trials Commission or has ever been on the Commission has done it for the love of our sport. In all the time I have been involved in Trials those people have been great folk committing their own time and effort for the benefit of all us enthusiasts and the sport in general. I for one greatly appreciate it and suggest that they deserve recognition for their fantastic effort. It is a lot easier to be critical of the efforts of others than to put your hand up and have a crack yourself.
Having said that, the suggestion of a focal point for Trials Commission updates on TA is not a bad idea. :D

Regards to all, Hugh Harvie

Interesting thread going here.

However, off the subject, could I just put a few records straight here, as I am presently a little sensitive about being over looked.

I know it was a long time ago & lots of people in trials were not around to remember but in 1984-1986, I competed overseas in Europe & USA & here in Australia. Even though there was no Women’s World Championship, at the time, I was actually ranked, the top women’s trials rider in the world.

Also, this year is the second, not the first, time an Australian Women’s Team has competed in the Women’s Trials des Nations. Michelle & I rode, in France, for Australia in 2001.

The original post of "how can we get more feedback from the Commissioners?" is an extremely valid question. I am not sure why anyone takes this personally. If someone says this information is not "in their face" how can this be made possible? How can we make this happen for the benefit of the entire trials community? Could this be added as a topic and questions be answered by the Commissioners only?
