Ian's just returned and I had a chat to him last night. He reckoned it took him two days to get into the swing of things and then he had his early day and he spent the day clearing the moss off the rocks and moving 'em for the later numbers. He thinks that next year he should easily knock off the marks to get into the first class awards.
BTW he finished about ten places ahead of you.

Yeah i'd agree, i think it took me till friday to get into the swing of it. I'm normally a very direct rider, line the bike up and hit big steps cos of my biketrials background etc so getting into a flowing motion was very alien. All my friends that were spectating noticed it by friday, so i just needed another 6 days
Loved every minute though and can't wait to (fingers crossed) go back next year!!

There are not many places in the world blessed with sections like you find in Scotland (or Yorkshire). You know, good, open and flowing sections where there's no advantage to hopping. There probably are in NZ but I suspect they're in the south island and I've never been there so I can't comment. There certainly aren't in Auckland where the sections tend to be a bit southern like but with volcanic rocks and granite and sandstone. Like many Ian took some time to get into it.
Billy, you can get hold of me or PeterB on TC if you want to drop in. We'll sort you out.

Hi, there aren't any trials in WA from early November to end of February at best, mainly due to the Weather. Riding in 35+ degrees kind of puts people off, in addition to that is the fire danger on most of the farms that we ride. However there are sometimes practise days in February, you would need to check though as they are normally only arranged late in the year or in January. I am the editor of the Pathfinders magazine which is posted on here monthly so you can contact me through that to check.
Apart from that WA is a great place I'm sure you'll enjoy it.
Tony
