TY 175 TIMING

Post by mmjs »

Could anyone help with timing on a TY175. E# 525
1-How may degrese before T.D.C should the points open.
2- Do any TY's have any timing marks on the flywheel.
3-What points gap would you suggest.
Thanks heaps.

There are no factory timing marks.
Yamaha specify piston movement (1.8mm) BTDC (not degrees of rotation).
I found that 1.8mm represents 20-22mm on the outer circumference of the flywheel.
Recommended points gap is 0.3 mm to 0.4 mm
