For those people that dont regularly read the mainstream dirt bike mags (due to lack of trials content) I would like mention that Dirt Action has had a 'project bike' in the form of a trials bike for the last 6 months & have ran an article in each issue.
In the current issue there is a 5 page feature on the new Sherco trials bikes a well as a feature on Stefan Meriman doing some crazy wall rides on his enduro bike.
If we all grab a copy & a few even write or email in then we can keep the momentum going & gain some regular press in these magazines.
We will push them to cover some of the bigger competitions this year. Last years nationals in S.A. only missed out due to clashing with the Moto GP at Phillip island.
I have a pretty good contact at the magazine now so if anyone has any thoughts or idea's please send them through.

Re: Trials in the mainstream press
I have given ADB a big serve over the past couple of years regarding their Annual Magazine. Every year Trials is left out! So I just keep reminding them!
Trials just can't compete with MX,SX and Enduro, yet they go on about Stefan and others are using trials as a cross training tool for their main sport. I just don't get it!
I have submitted to the local papers a couple of times detailing Trials at Mt kembla and have had a good response from the riders as a result. C'mon who doesn't want to see their name in print?
Don, Can we see more Trials in Dirt? Not just a small piece in the front pages, BUT how about the Nationals and/or State rounds as well?

Feet up, as always!

Here's an article from DA February 2008.

The project bike certainly generated some positive press. As well as the articles, there was also a great trials piece with Colin Zar on one of the bonus DVDs that came with the mag. I can upload it to YouTube if anyone is interested.

Re: Trials in the mainstream press
I am interested to see the video if you could upload it. That would be great!
Also, Freerider's 50th issue (as mentioned on here elsewhere) has an article on urban trials with Jack Field and Jason Hill which gives some good exposure to trials. It also has a free DVD with it that also has footage of the guys including backflips at the Beenleigh skate park! It's pretty awesome!
And by the sounds of things I will have to get out and buy Dirt Action too and give some feedback!
Stu - I like your idea of submitting to the local papers, that's the beauty of PR, anyone can submit an article and there's always a chance it will get published... hmmm..

Here you go. I've got some others that I will drag out and post later.

Both Shannon ans Sam are no longer at Dirt Action, so it will be interesting to see if the trials coverage continues in this mag.

Re: Trials in the mainstream press
thanks Raddy! That's a good little feature on Trials.. I also had a look at the article you put up from DA and it's funny to read there that they also say one of the problems is people think it's too hard, it's so true! Makes it hard to get new riders!

Here's another from the Dirt Action DVD series...

I'm still searching for one in particular that featured an OMCC meeting. It was a great piece. If anyone has it, could you please upload it.
There's also this piece (link below)from MX-TV just in case you haven't seen it before.

This was also included in a bonus DVD with Dirt Action and features a great plug for this website (that's how I ended up here).

Sam Maclachlan (who is featured in one of the DA videos I have posted) is now the editor of ADB, so there may well be some changes. Feel free to drop him a line [email protected]

Just a word of warning Don maybe talking about the August issue of Dirt Action as I went out and bought the latest issue (September) and there is only 1 page on trials bike.I think it is a trials bike photos not that clear.
Still better than nothing.
