Re: Who won at Conondale?
Conondale, QLD (09/11/2008)-
The MCNAB TWIN SHOCK & CLASSIC MASTERS INTERCLUB TRIAL kicked off on Sunday with a large field of over 100 riders and clearing skies. The much anticipated match up between Nick Blair (Sherco) and Cameron J (BETA) in the Clubman class didn’t disappoint. After baiting each other all week on the Trials Australia forums a bold move was made early when the riders agreed to mark each others cards for the day.
After a stunning first lap, Blair took an early lead with a clean lap whilst Johnston continued his run of ‘rookie mistakes’ and footed twice on easy sections. With the pressure on Johnston to perform it was time step up to the plate to do battle. Using a technique he has used throughout the year to calm himself – which involves chanting “Smooth… smooth… I am Smooth” (inspired by racing legend Lighting McQueen) Johnston was able to string together a pair of clean laps. Meanwhile, the rising pressure was taking it’s toll on Blair as he scored a 1 on Lap 2 and a 2 on Lap 3.
Johnston held a slender 1 point lead going into the last lap. Then disaster struck as Johnston footed twice through section 2. With the lead in this battle handed to Blair he never looked back, with a clean last lap he sealed the deal. Blair finished a respectable 3rd overall and Johnston 5th . Age and experience probably kept these two riders from a 1st and 2nd placing overall but both riders were very happy with the days competition and excellent event provided by WDTC. Great report Cameron J!
You should take up the spot for Qld Trials editor!
The results didn't quite go your way but there's always next time.......
Does this mean that Motostar gets elevated to C grade???

Re: Who won at Conondale?
Awesome report Cameron and an even better ride!
As you can see it was a very close and enjoyable ride. With Cameron footing in section 2 it put the pressure on with 8 more sections to go and me needing to clean them all to stay in front. It was tough but luckily for me I made it through! So Team Motostar was victorious! Mind you my pit crew didn't show up, which had to have been a good thing!
Cameron and I had a great day riding together, I think it pushed us to ride that little bit better when we both knew the pressure was on which was good.
It's great when you're in a sport that two of us who were competing against each other could ride around together, mark each other's cards and help each other find the best lines through all the sections offering advice to each other so that we can both learn as we go. Most other sports bring too much competition into it so that you couldn't have a day as enjoyable as we did.
I have some photos to post up including one of the dreaded second dab in section 2 by Cameron that led me on to victory! The photo itself isn't that great, but the look on Cameron's face is! I'll post them up soon.
As for C Grade, that should put me in the position to be able to go up next year which is great. On to new challenges!

Re: Who won at Conondale?
Why not do a deal and get all 3!

Team Motostar needs a new manager and mechanic(to make up for the two dud/no shows you have at the moment!)

Re: Who won at Conondale?
Aha,
My strategy worked!!!!!!!!
Team motorstar has triumphed again due to the reverse psycology of the team motivator aka ME.
By purposely not making an appearance at the previous 2 events I have allowed motostar has overcome his fear of being thoroughly thrashed by ME.
Now as you can all see how well this has worked I am willing to let all in Oz take advantage of a special pre Xmas offer for one time only the unbelievable chance to have me not compete at your event.
To take advantage of this special offer message your full bank account details and PIN to ME.
The First 10,000 to do this will not receive a free set of steak knives.
Did I mention I'm in Nigeria.

Re: Who won at Conondale?
It seems to me that all the good encouragement and training that Dad and I have put into these up and coming riders is not acknowledged now that they are on their way to the top ,so maybe Dad next time we are at a trial, we should ride together and let them figure the rest out.
