Are enduro's turning into trials?

Are enduro's getting harder or trials getting easier?

Hard going on an enduro bike but he was doing it well Watched a couple of the videos of the Erzberg event. Seeing Jeremy McGrath getting helped up a hill by another rider gives an idea of what an extremely hard event it must be.

When I read the title of this topic I thought you meant the bikes. I think it does apply to the bikes not the courses, and it would follow that the bikes are therefore more capable of trials style terrain.

What I am waiting for is a trials bike with a seat, a long range tank ( 200kms plus ), fast ( 150kph), reliable ( four stroke ), can take a passenger, can take pannier bags, corners well on high speed tarmac, is aerodynamic, ecenomical, has low gearing, has high gearing and only weighs about 65 kgs.

Just had a look at the video clip & it really reminded me of trials in the 1970's the way he was riding. That could have been an A grade section & some of the A, B & C graders would have ridden it like that. The sections are definitely harder now because the bikes & riding techniques are sooo much better.

Maybe someone should start holding trials schools that could be based towards Enduro/cross country riders.

Might pick up more new riders to the sport of trials through it.


There seems to be a leaning towards placing more extreme trials type sections in enduros these days.

Very good point damo. Although most enduro riders just want a good blast on a Sunday. A few years ago entries in enduros in Cape Town were on the slide and a friend I decided to organise an enduro which could be ridden round on an XT500 and let people know. Entries doubled.

Making trialslike enduros will put a lot of people off.

Maybe someone should start holding trials schools that could be based towards Enduro/cross country riders.
