Hi All,
What 520 chain should I use, O Ring ? or not?
Any particular manufacturer getting good feed back for wear??
Is it a weight-wear trade off?
General use rather than full on comp.
Thanks
Russ

Some bikes won't have enough clearance around the front sprocket to fit an o-ring chain so the width of the chain may limit your choice. You haven't said which bike so it is hard to say if width is likely to be a problem.
O-ring chains have much higher frictional losses than a lubricated non-o-ring chain so if you have a small engined twinshock, you will notice it is even more gutless than usual if you fit an o-ring chain.
O-ring chains and steel rear sprockets last way longer in muddy conditions than the usual aluminium rear sprocket and non-o-ring chain that most people use in competition trials. Horses for courses.
I would only ever fit an o-ring chain on a twinshock trials bike if I was going to use it exclusively for long trail rides or road riding.

David, I have changed back to a 428 chain on the TY250. It still lasts well as it is used as trail bike often.
Feet up, as always!

Hey Stu. I use 428 on twinshock TYs too and don't have any problems. Maybe if we rode somewhere it rained a lot it might be better to use 520, but I don't, so I don't.

I tried the 520 chain for years, then I found that it did drag a bit, so I tried a 428 and it seems to be heaps better. Stay with the factory settings, you can't go wrong.
