Heres one from today when I was experimenting with helium in the tyres - not recommended - it was almost impossible to keep the shiny side up

You have the wrong gas David. You need to fill your tyres with acetylene and then you need a pilot light..........guaranteed to give you more lift

Thats a pretty tidy looking TY there. What modifications does it have?
Just my 2 cents worth.....or was that 1 cent???!!!

Thanks David for the info.
One of our new clubmembers turned up with a Ty250D yesterday for a ride and so we spent the rest of the day getting it sorted and setup for his first trial next weekend.

Its been almost 20 yrs since I've ridden one and I'd completely forgotton what they were like...........especially compared to my 07 GG
Made some big improvements on it tho and it was lotsa fun with some decent setup.
:D
What jetting are you running? Off idle response on this particular bike is terrible.
Its certainly not like I remember!

I initially changed around the jetting a lot on the Majesty till I realised that the airbox I put on the Majesty was from a TY250B which has a much bigger intake to the airbox. Once I set the airbox up to be the same as a TY250D (which is what the carby was from) I went back to stock standard TY250D jetting and it ran very nice.
It is possible that your memory of that sort of bike has been affected by riding modern rocketship-type bikes and a standard TY250D is one of the mildest performing twinshock bikes around. Remember that after a modern bike a twinshock will feel like it has no brakes, no suspension, no throttle response and someone has bolted 25kg of lead to the fuel tank.
I do trim a little bit off the steel band on the flywheel to get it just the way I like it and it has a WES muffler, but the porting, compression, ignition timing and jetting are standard.
If on the other hand you are being realistic with your expectations about the motor performance, I think that a blocked pilot jet would be a likely cause for poor off-idle response.

 Yeah that was my first impressions too!
But fiddled with clutch and brakes and got them working much better. The bike in question has Betors on the rear and I thought for a 30 year old bike, the suspension was quite good.
We ran outa time to do anything else so that will have to wait unfortunately. Will have time to do some more fiddling later on in the week.
Thanks GGman
PS the 25 kg of lead sounds about right tho!

From the St. Davids a few weeks ago... Craig Robinson's Gasser did a ghost ride after he didn't get up that huge step... headed straight at me and i took this image and turned to my mates and fellow photographers to say what a good shot that was only to find they had all run for it :D
