I posted a message sometime ago on the " going for a ride " section about riding in the NT, Darwin to be precise. Well, I have yet to receive any responses, but I have had quite a few people read the message. I am keen to start a Trials club up there, as there should be planty of space in which to ride and some good callenging terrain. I am defence member so my time could be quite periodic but it would be good to get somthing going. It is virgin ground for the sport, so maybe another club or team might like to get involved with points or even creating a market in the State. we just need enough people to be able to run events or just get involved to keep it going. If anubody has similer thoughts or has any points of view, drop me a lime or leave a comment. If you want to send an email just title it " trials in the NT" so I can ID it from the junk mail.
Cheers and hope to here from someone.

PS I will run a poll to see howmany interrested people we get.
New Trials Club, I hope!

Trials Club of Darwin and Districts
After being a frequent visitor to Darwin in both the wet and the dry seasons I take my hat off to anyone who would do much trials riding up there. There is certainly great terrain thereabouts, but I'm not sure I would be able to cope too well with the heat. I get sweaty enough down here when it gets over 25 degrees. If you are able to garner enough interest I would join and happily pay dues even if I don't live there! Good luck!

Greg

Re: New Trials Club, I hope!
Greg,
You are not kidding about the heat. After about an hour I am ready for a long sit down. No refreshent in some of the water either. I was riding by an old quarry the other day. I was next to the edge tackling some nice rocks and looking into the water. I thought to myself, even if I fall in it would be a pain for my bike but refreshing for me. All misty thoughts stopped there, as on the edge of the water, right below me, was a croc, basking in the sun. Only a small one, but where there are small ones there are always larger snapping handbags just waiting for a feed. However, even though the heat is extreme and conditions hard, it's worth every minute. Even if I can't spend too long out in the heat and sun for fear of my bike and I overheating, my poor wife still finds me gone every chance I get. Next time your up hear, send me a message, ( [email protected] ) and we can go for a ride, I should have a spare bike by then, or we could just have a drink and a chat. It would be nice to talk trials to someone who understands as it falls on deaf ears with my wife.
Cheers
Davo

Re: New Trials Club, I hope!
Davo there was an active trials club in the Alice when I was there last (which was a while ago) and the terrain there is unbelievable and riding conditions quite pleasant in winter. I know its a long drive from your end of the NT but if you are going there, have a look around.
My partner and I were travelling around Austraila at the time in a 4WD and we watched a trial held just North of town at "the boulders" and I remember wishing I'd had my trials bike there at the time.

For most of us when we talk trials with our better halves it falls on deaf ears.

Re: New Trials Club, I hope!
Hi Dave,
I'm still hoping you get your trials club up and running. Perhaps you could call it the Croc-Hoppers Trials Club? I hope to be up that way later in the dry. I expect that if I have the trouble and strife in tow trials would not be high on the agenda either! But any ride is usually a good one though it sounds like a Camelback full of iced water would be an advantage.
Cheers and get those feet (and legs) up,
Greg

Re: New Trials Club, I hope!
Greg,
Just drop me a line when you are coming up here and we will try the iced water theory. It's better this time of year though as we are in the dry season. I'm going to give tommorrow afternoon a go to see if the lower humidity makes it more bearable. Anyhow, as I said drop me a line next time your coming to town and it would be a pleasure to have a chat and let the "Minister of War and Finance" try and understand that I am not the only trials nut.
Cheers

Re: New Trials Club, I hope!
Thought it would never happen, Well it looks like the NT croc Hoppers is a go. It would seem that I am not the only one in Darwin who rides. In fact thanks to this site and the encouragement of others, I am able to ride in a group of fellow trials minded individuals. Greg, you were right, in your "Trials Tales" column, there had to be others up here. We now number six and others are keen to get on two wheels and clamber over the multitude of terrain up here. I only have a short time to write this, so more is to follow. Cheers to all for the support and we can now claim the
as a future trials hot spot.

Re: New Trials Club, I hope!
Hi Davo great to see your having a go at setting up a new club maybe a (black) club would be the way to go so you don't have to fight your way through all the MA red tape, Just think once you get to four members you can take it in turns who wants to be the CofC, Steward, Race Sec and rider.
I too am a defence member on the wrong side of forty and yes you guessed it I too ride a 08 Scorpa 250R. If you ever get to perth give me a hoy!!
I presume you have your CO's permission to ride in such a dangerous sport :)
Is their any other defence member riders out their perhaps we could enter a team for the Nationals?

Re: New Trials Club, I hope!
Hi there car davies, S.Q.T.A. could be what you are looking for in the new club A club that is un affilliated uncomlicated easy to run .You just need a few comitted members to set up with at first and your away !!!!!!!!!!!as we did,,,,,,,,,,and you make your own rules to suit what you want, its the only way to get people out there without the cost !!!!!!there are plenty of potential riders out there that will not !!!!!be bothered with getting all the costly paperwork done to get a ride ,,,,,,,,,but will more likley to turn up if they only have to pay a small fee to ride!!!!!!!!!with no crap to go on with,,,,,insurance is always the big call, but its not that costly iff you look into it,,,,,,,,a few phone calls to the the right people to give you the right direction could be worth it for you,,,,,all the money we make from our events goes back to the club members xmas party free ride days trophys free sausage sizzles at every event free random raffles and anything else we can think of to give it back to our members!!!!!!!!!! after costs that are not that expensive!!!!!!!!I hope there are enough people to get somthing going for you as it is well worth the effort!!!!!!!!!!riding trials enjoyment that is affordable to everyone that is interested in it,,,good luck!!!!!S.Q.T.A. check it out to see iff its what you are looking for!!!!!!!!P.S no offence to yamfan but you cant call it that to be politically correct !!!!!!!!!
