Secret bike bling spy photos

Post by David Lahey »

Brooweena Twinshock-only trial 2010 is still 10 months away but it seems like some people have already started preparing their bikes for the unofficial concours de elegance.
Just by chance I was in a sheetmetal workshop in a top-secret location (near Cedric's place) and something very shiny caught my eye. It looked familiar but different. While no-one was looking I took the shiny thing outside and took these spy photos. A few moments in the sunlight allowed me to recognise it as an aluminium replica of a TY250 oil tank cover.
I snuck it back into the workshop and put it back exactly where it sat before and wiped my fingerprints off it, avoiding to mention anything to the blokes who work there when they came back.
The mystery now is who would go to such lengths to bring serious bling to a TY250? Well, who in Gladstone anyway. I know that there is very serious bike blinging traditionally done in Maryborough, but until now in Gladstone that sort of thing has been limited to Cedric's bikes, and he doesn't have a TY250! hmmmmmmm..... who can it be now?

If that is only the start of the bike we will all need sunglasses next year. But at last some real competition from out of town. I dream about bling items like this. I wish I had the tools to perform this type of work. But then I would have to have the skills as well. :( I knew I should have done a trade!!!

Come on Starky, aren't you going to have a go at guessing whose bike that sidecover is for? It is for a bike that was at Brooweena this year.

Now the beans have been spilled, I can say that the aluminium sidecover only looked like that for a little while today before it was abrasive blasted in preparation for being painted that lovely pale powder blue to match the other bits on the bike. Bling fanciers may well weep, but that is the story. Mac and Cedric weren't able to find an original sidecover for Mac's TY250D and so had that replica made in aluminium at our local sheet metal shop.

Go the bling, it would be very individual to have that look (no doubt somewhere along the way I am sure we will see this again). The workmanship is a very good article.
I would rather push my twinshock than ride a modern!
