Hi there all, i've been looking at a Fantic K-roo, 94 model, 249cc.
The big problem is the kickstarter slips a bit at times, a few broken teeth on the cog??
Can anyone help out by letting me know is this a bike i should stay clear of or is it not that big of a deal.
i know the company has gone down the plug, but can you get any motor type bits for this bike, or is it only good for parts. i like this eara of bike so thats why i'm asking all the stupid questions.
Thanks
Shawn.

Shawn,
I have a 1991 Fantic 250 KRoo, I have chased parts myself, try and lookup Frankfield Fantic and Bob Wright, both UK suppliers (both should be on the web).
Takes a bit to get an email reply, but you could try and call them via phone or leave a fax message. Let them know what bits you need and they should be able to advise availability.
If they have the bits you are set, if not, there are several guys selling Fantic 264 bits and pieces (wrecking)on ebay both from UK and USA sources.
There are some nice Betas and a couple of Honda Montesas on ebay past week for pretty good value between $1800 - 2500. These may be a better bet for easier parts sources here in Australia, worth consideration
Regards Bogdit

Hi Shawn
I've owned and ridden a few Fantics, the most recent being a couple of 305's which were made a few years before the K Roo.
They were good bikes with plenty of low down power but too powerful for a young beginner. Don't forget there are no special classes for the old mono and you are riding against guys with new bikes in Clubman, Junior, C grade, Veteran or whichever grade you will compete in. In competant hands they are a great clubman bike these days, strong and easy to maintain,,, until something serious goes wrong. As a previous guy mentioned Bob Wright and Frankfield Fantic are the best two suppliers in the UK and after visiting both in the last two years I would talk to Bill Pye at Frankfield first, Bob never seems to respond to Emails.
The best expert that I found who knows all about Fantics is a guy named Bas Zeinstra in Holland, he has a website devoted to Fantics, just google Bas Zeinstra and you will find it .
Hope this helps
Cheers

Re: Advice on Fantic's, please help!
Hi Shaun
I have a Fantic 307 model before the KRoo. Had a similar issue. No teeth mising, just the spring that puts the 'dog' clutch into position to kick. Have to remove the left had cover and dig behind the clutch and there it is. Had just jumped out of place. 2 mins to put bck and has been perfect ever since!
I have had a couple of other problms that I am working on though!
Parts fromthe UK are easy!
Good luck

Thanks very much everyone, i'm not really looking to compete on this bike, just learn and have some fun.
I will join in on some comps, but i dont expect to win anything ive never been that good. i just love the sport.
And if theres any one in Toowoomba whos willing to share some knowledge, would like to hear from you.
Shawn.
