Roger.
I heard the same from Mike Riley. The batch went to the French Army, I guess they had a heap of oval ones left so they didn't update until they had gotten rid of the remianing stock of oval barrells.
Does this mean that you'll have to paint your bike in French Army colours and start eating frogs legs!!!!!
If they went to France does that mean that if I got my hands on a set that I could use a French Carb to go with them?

TriCub - Please ride. I have a carb you can use, the 622 concentric that I took off my trials cub when I put the Keihin on. Oops. I'll ring you

Now that the Square barrel eligibility has been given the ok, I can now order two 622 Mk1 Concentrics from the UK. But I will still be putting in a complaint about the proposed rule change for the GCR's regarding the No Japanese or Italian carburettors on Brittish machines.

I hope you saw the rule in the supp regs about only being able to ride the one bike at the Aussies - or maybe one of your bikes has twin carbies  .
I'm trying to work out who you are - I think I have met your brother two dogs

Hi David,
Twin carbies on a cub sounds good, the Amal one side and a Keihin on the other  . My son and I will be riding the Aus. Champs. My cub is called Chris and has 6 Aus. Championships, my other cub is called Al and has 1 Aus. Championship with my son =D> .

this thread is fantastic reading.
I love how some people had there say to exclude spanish bikes from competing. The best part is that ever competitor of classic now has to conform with the new rules. Some even shot themselves in the foot didnt they, even shot there mate in the foot aswell.

I must appologise to all the people that didnt really care about my M10 competing that now are affected by these changes and having to make there bikes comply its unfair to you guys,i just wanted to ride my old bike that i spend alot of time rebuilding.

I also want to take the time to say sorry to all the other people, friends, families and all offical parties that have had to listern to all the talk about eligability.

peace out

cya at the titles this year.

Allan.(Is it Allan)
The rule changes have not been voted on as yet and even if they come in ,it is not until 2011. The rules for the Aus titles are the strange ones that have been dreamed up by the organizing committee. Did you know that if you put Pommy forks and wheels on a Bultaco you could still ride it at this years titles or if you had a pre 65 Montesa you can ride it as well. They have only mentioned Bultaco,Ossa and Yamaha forks and hubs as not eligable and to think I was going to build a pre 65 Yamaha trials bike. Well I wasn't realy because it would be crap but there were plenty of Yamaha's made pre 65, perhaps we have been misled all these years thinking that Yamaha's are Jap bikes but they are actualy Spanish.
You will not see me at the titles as the bike I've been riding for the last 7 years is now not eligible because the carb was made in Japan.

I went along to the Pre'65 Scottish this year - what a great event - 2 Days, 170 odd riders (event was over subscribed as always) (More entries than an Aussie Title all up) and plenty of great competition on Pre65 British (not Spanish, not Japanese) bikes in the Kinlochleven area of Scotland. AJS, Matchless, BSA, Greeves, Dots, Ariel, Panther, Triumph etc etc etc etc A high majority of the bikes would not conform to Australian Pre '65 rules - eg Square barrelled Tiger Cubs, Betor forks, Falcon shocks, custom built chrome moly frames, titanium footrests - many had a pre 65 motor & gearbox and that was about it - it's time for Australia to move on allow the same - UK pre '65 entry and spectator numbers in the high hundreds speak for themselves. Let's face it - it makes stuff all difference to a tiger cub if it has a square or round barrel - but what is important is that it's a Tiger Cub that's out on the sections instead of being under the tarps in the shed due to some daft rule in the rule book.

Andrew you can do a lot of the modifications here and still be legal if you got the money.I run Honda CB250N forks in my Cub,even the Cub top fork bolt screws straight in the Honda forks.I just made a aluminium sleeve to fit into the Cub sliders,as for rear shocks I have none.In England they have different classes in Pre65 for standed and modified bikes
Tricub as for the Amal isnt it funny how they allow it because it is British and a true Pre65 Jap carby isnt. Its the British trying to keep thier glory days of bikes, even though some riders were running Jap carbs in the day and hubs.I suppose it is a bit like V8 supercars here Ford and Holden only no Jap.
As I compete all year on my Cub against Twinshock and those new plastic things,I run a Kiehin carby the same carby thats been on bikes that won Aussie tittles in Pre65.I ran a anal when I first put my bike together quiet a few years ago, went to tittles most Cubs running Kiehin carbs.Tried the amal this year in a Open injured myself due to slow response and cutting out, couldnt ride for while.Yes I did set it up right from information from expommy rider.
At the moment I have a Bantam half built and was going to convert my Cub back to full suspension.Due to all the crap going on at moment Im not interested in competing in Pre65 Aussie.Ill just compete in our Pre 70 class at Denman thats right a 57Cub against 49 Bully and NSW Opens against Plastic things.
