Re: Basket Cases Modified footpegs

Post by Greg Harding »

Hi Everyone,

Stu, I like how keen you are and there is quite a few tracks that you havn`t ridden yet!

I have posted a photo of some footpegs that I have modified, sold four pair at the TY Chcllenge. Will be taking some to the Aussie Titles for people as I didn`t have enough. The top ones are off TY twinshocks and the bottom ones are TL 250,if anyone is interested call me on 0428 789854 and the price is $50 exchange, yes I need your old footpegs. If needed I straighten them, beadblast, rework, prime and paint. The other footpegs that I have reworked are TLR, TLM, RL,TY monoshock, Alpina and Fantic. Basically broarder footpegs are more comfortable and widening the tip to tip dimension increases your leverage over the mass of the bike.

I can vouch for the wider pegs on the TY! Not greg's tho, but others and it makes the TY more ridable in tighter sections.
You mean there are more tracks out there? Sheesh, ok those extra 2 days will be handy then.

I can vouch for Greg's Pegs. (Maybe you should copyright the name) I rode with them on my bike last weekend at the Overflow. I can't say that they dramatically reduced my score, but at least I was able to ride and lose what points I did with a feeling of comfort and balance I hadn't had previously.

Seriously they do make a difference and feel a whole lot better.

Hi Everyone,

First of all, congratulations to Jamie Isherwood for winning Post Classic at the Aussie Titles! Jamie competes regularly on his Honda and didn`t come down from a higher grade.

Mark, thanks for the feedback, great to hear that you are enjoying the footpegs!

Geoff, thanks for the opportunity to ride another Classic! I am always keen to ride any bike as I like to form my own opinions. Yours is the second behind Ron Field`s Francis Barnett. GO CZ!

George, the TY175JC/JE rear muffler looks to be in pretty good condition and I am happy to swap the 175 carby below for it. Sent it off today and I hope it solves all of your problems!

Hi Greg and others, No probs about the ride and hope you enjoyed it and you must agree that the CZ is as tough as an old boot and with similar handling! Jamie Isherwood is some rider alright and I must thank him and Nell for looking after me so well at the Arena trial, what a great week I had. Have I been forgiven by the organizers for the Container incident yet?
Regards Geoff.
GO CZ!

Hi Greg

Just saw on ebay two ty175s. One is in quite good nic (as far as I can tell from the advt.) while the other is in pieces.
I dunno how to post a link to the pages but If someone is after parts just search for 'ty175'

Alan

Hi Everyone,

Dirt Tracker, we had heaps of trouble working out how to post photos as well, some friends helped and I think there are some posts on here about how to do it. We are happy to post the photos that you have emailed us. Great to see that you have saved some more old bikes and intend to restore the Sherpa T, look forward to having a ride! It always makes me wonder how many old bikes are sitting in old sheds just rusting and wasting away! I am sure people on this forum will be happy to help with sourcing parts and any technical delimas. Does the motor on the Sherpa T turn over and does it have compression or will it be a total rebuild?

Geoff, I had forgotten about the container incident!!!!! Perhaps we shouldn't bring it up again!

Alan, had a look at the good TY 175 and it impresses me how much they are asking for old bikes, I am told TY 175's cost about $700 new. Not good at searching Ebay and couldn't find the other one. Nana Glen is like any small country town I suppose. Been away for Trials week (had a great time at all three Trials and socialising with people) and come home and it seems nothing has changed at all! Sounds like you have been to Nana Glen! Could you post some photos of your RL's (is it true that 1 of them is a Beamish?) I am curious as to wether you got both types of RL's that we have here in Australia? Were you able to source a TS 250 clutch cover etc?

Thanks Greg & Donna for sorting out the Sherpa T pics for me.The motor will require a full rebuild along with the rest of the bike.I will be needing a piston kit,rod kit & gasket kit & will also need rear shocks & the chrome on the forks is very rusted.I have sold the Alpina 350 & 250 now, they went to Darwin & Sydney to two Bultaco enthusists who will be restoring them back to their former glory.I am happy to see them go to good homes where other people will be able to appreciate them, instead of decaying away in a shed as they had been before I found them. =D>
