Trial at Heathcote, circa 1969

Post by manxman »

"Those were the days my friend" they ended though, now we have to wear helmets and boots and gloves and all sorts of 'namby pamby' gear. Not an inch of lycra in sight.
Anyone know who these chaps are? They were taken by a friend, Milton Judd, at a trial in Heathcote, just south of Sydney in 1969. He worked for Castrol at the time.

Hi guys

I can name some of them, but do recognise all the faces - this is 40 years later you know:
1-4 Ian Gaff, Victoria, 3 times Aussie Champion and the guy whose style I tried to copy
5 Peter Paice, but this would have been 1970 because that's when I started riding new Bultaco
6&7 Recognise faces, possibly Victorian because they used to travel in group to Heathcote trials near Liverpool
8&10 Barry Barton, used to write articles for the Victorian motorcycle paper, nicknamed 'The Green Horror'
9 Peter Paice on first 'trials' bike. Very standard BSA Bantom with motocross tyres and approx 3inch ground clearance
11-14 Recognise faces, but no names are coming to me - maybe also Victorian

Cheers, Peter Paice
