For the yellow on TY250A and TY250B I use Power Plus rattle can "Absinth Yellow". It is the closest I have found to the original Yamaha "Competition" yellow available off-the-shelf. You may get a closer match by getting a spraypainter to match some paint by eye from an original sample. As far as I know that yellow it is not available as a coded automotive paint colour.
I'll see if I can find a side-by-side photo showing both original Yamaha yellow and Absinth yellow
The light silver colour on the TY250A fuel tank, headlight and mudguards is called "Tober Pearl" by Yamaha and is also not available as a coded colour.
The A model fuel tank and exhaust shield are the original Yamaha paint. The A model seat surround is some other yellow and I can't remember the name of it but it is not as close to original as the Absinth yellow. The B model yellow parts are all Absinth yellow
Tober silver? I thought it was white... oh well I'll be taking the TY apart soon ready for painting, thanks Dave for the yellow coding anyway. Is the engine flat, semi-gloss or gloss black?
If all goes well David, i'll be at somewhere in QLD for the Classic Trials next year, thats why the spruce up! Oh and the Aussie titles again, I'm riding the TY, not the Sherco.
Point of interest; Tober Pearl is actually "Toba Pearl", named after the Japanese Island of Toba where the Japanese pearling industry is concentrated. Hows that for trivia.
Stuart .. I have made the prototype "long ride" base which I shall be checking on 30/12. We are going on the annual TY Joadja long ride that day............. Breakfast is being served at 8.00am........... I will be thrilled if you can come along, give me a call.
Paint........ I reckon Davids Absinth Yellow is a coup......... however I do have a few NOS bits and pieces including an A model Fuel tank, exhaust guard and seat preparatory to a restoration which could be used as a paint reference if need be.
thanks everybody,,The Absinth is actually a holden colour from the HX I think, it will be fine. Merry xmas and have a safe and happy new year. ride safe... Dan
