Stu,
There is a great guy at Fairy Meadow, I think he is called Kingsley. He should be able to weld it up.
Look him up in the yellow or white pages.
BUT ???? What caused it. ????

Re: '74 TY rear brake plate.
Gary,
going to see him tomorrow, if you recommend him he must be good!
I really dont know how it happened, but its all the way thru. From the side it's about 3cm long. Getting the TY ready for this year and found it when I removed the rear wheel to check the rear brake.

If it's not to late make sure that you let him know that it's made of Magnesium. Magnesium is mush more difficult to weld and you need to use a special high percentage Magnesium filler rod (not cheap). It's a bit hard to tell from the photo but it looks like the crack is non-structual so it should repair quite well.

Re: '74 TY rear brake plate.
Hi Stu,
If you are not happy with the thought of having the backing plate welded, I have a few spare original "A" model ones and later as well.
Yours is broken because of the rotation of the wheel pulling against the stay under braking, and old age fatigue of course.
