Hey Rob if people looked closely at your entry fees for this great yearly event, and remember it is the Sherco Qld State Titles, not just another Open it really is great value even without a family entry being available..
Open Solo $35 per day
Junior $27.50 per day
Support class $20 for a 1 day ride.
Minder $15 per day
Camping $5 per day.
Family is normally around $90 on a one day event. (1 adult and up to 3 juniors or other non adult riders residing at the one address)
This event's entry fee over the 2 day event comes out at $120 a day for a family of 1adult and 3 juniors, not too bad to be mixing it with a great field of very high standard riders
The Queensland Championship event is like every other state in Australia, except New South Wales. This two day format, gives an opportunity for riders from anywhere in Australia to attend. Colin Zar and Kyle Middleton are prime examples of enticing the highest calibre riders over the last couple of years to make the long journey up to Queensland to compete.
Also Rob, I like your form in giving an answer to people who make the effort to air their views. Wish there were more like you that give more than just their time to keep us all riding.
Ian you know very well who the race secretary is - are you trying to get Chucky strangled
Just playing along with what has been a very emotive debate these past few weeks Rob and probably sticking my nose where I have no right to! My bad attempt at trying to lighten the atmosphere up as well I quess but families do get a bum deal in my opinion.
Trials in Australia is not failing - it is clearly growing again at last. My thoughts about the problems with trials mostly stem around the reluctance of competitors to take on committee positions within clubs, or become officials helping to run (and grow) the sport. The fact that club and official roles often fall on our non riding spouses is disgraceful. And then to have them criticised.....
Well said and one very good reason why SQTA was formed in the first place. We have eliminated the non riding "Official" fiasco and at this stage "Committee" positions aren't an issue either being a young club made up of motivated members and only time will tell where that road takes us! The "single wage, one bike, one ute, arrive late, leave early" mentality does more damage to undermine club executives than anything else in my opinion, and a culture I tried to change but failed to do in my last official position, and even though it is very hard to ignore you just have to. The cream always floats to the top in the end and that's where the encouragement will always come from. Keep up the good work and don't let the b*#@!ds get you down I say. Ever thought about ability based trials, now there's a unique idea!
Whinge, whinge, bloody whinge! What a bunch of girly wet pants when you don’t get it your way! And as usual it’s the same old antagonist’s giving it to the people who take up the task to do all the work!
Air Cooled Mono: Yes it’s in the MOMs as a Class……. No it’s not a “Championship class”. Get over it! Rumor has it that it will be a “Champ class” in next years MOMs. One would assume that the decision makers have tread lightly and only added it this year as a non-champ class to see how well it is supported?? After all, it’s no good having a Champ class with out competitors. Unless you’re a “Trophy Hunter” ……………!
Just checked all the 2011 results available on line, only ONE event (MTCQ’s two day) had Air Cooled Mono in the results with THREE riders entered! (I’m open to correction here re. un-published results or graded rides) In some supp regs three riders doesn’t even constitute a class!
So based on those figures, maybe the decision makers got it right?? Maybe it should be held off as a champ class until it attracts more riders?? Who’s got the crystal ball??? So just be happy its in the MOMs at all. The rules of ACM can wait till another day. Hmmm, TR34 engine in an EVO frame!
In regards to the Qld Titles, why should the club running the event add to their event costs by running another class which at this point in time is largely unsupported and may not even have enough entrants to constitute a class, as well as not being a champ class at this time.
As with most Titles and Championship events, it is always a trade off regarding, Financial viability Vs Entrants Vs workers.
Hey Toby, think of the money you’ve saved not buying the mono! As you’ve been competing in twinshock in the NSW rounds why not ride the Qld Titles in twinshock, unless your worried you wont bring a trophy home! Seriously, do you really think any one believes you would plan to buy a Mono, just to go to the Qld titles? Maybe you should pick the shit out of some supp regs closer to home first before you start your shit stirring, lets see; NSW Champs Rd 1; No mention of Air cooled mono what so ever?? NSW Champs Rd 2; Rd1 of air cooled mono in the title, but no mention in “classes of competition”, just tick a box on the entry form! Hmm. NSW Champs Rd 3; Now were cooking. (No disrespect intended to the comp secs and club officials of the above events)
Having said all that, any club can run an event (other than Aust titles) and include or not include any grade or class they see fit, eg; Classic only or No support grades, or cut off dates, so long as it is outlined in the supp regs…….(that’s why there called supplementary regulations) The outcome of course will result in how many riders enter your event! Or not!
Qld Entry Fees: No Queensland based riders should be bitching about the entry fees of Qld trials events. Just take a look at what your fellow interstate riders are paying!;
Vic Easter two day; Pre entry Fee; Solo and Sidecar $80, Juniors $30, Family (up to two adults & two dependant children) $120, Minders $50 (Includes MV rider levy) Late fees; Solo and Sidecar $130, Juniors $70, Family (up to two adults & two dependant children) $180, Minders $80 (Includes MVrider levy)
Vic 2011 series (1day) Solo $50, Sidecar $75, Juniors $25, Minders $15, Family (up to two adults & two children (U16) residing at the same address) $100. (All entry fees include $11 per rider MV levy)
NSW rd 1; (2day) Seniors: $95 Juniors: $65 Family: $150 (One senior rider and one or more Juniors living at the same address)
NSW rd 2; (1day) $65 (Senior), $30 (Junior), $90(Family – if living at the same address limit to 1 senior), $50 (Minder)
Hmm, suddenly the Qld fees don’t look so bad! Makes you wonder if all the Qld clubs shouldn’t be upping their entry fees to hedge against the costs of running their events. As it stands Moto-trials has got to be the most economical of all the motorcycle disciplines, just talk to some one who rides Moto-X or Enduro you’ll soon get the picture! Don’t even ask about 4 wheel motor sports, or talk to a horse person about their entry fees and costs, and then tell them what you pay and check their response!
Most clubs have rising costs they have to meet to be able to put on an event, like payment to property owners so you have somewhere to ride, toilets so that you have some where to…..., first aid so you have some where to bleed, feeding of observers so you have someone to score, official fees and on going administration cost. Just so you guys can have a ride! So the next time you’re writing out the entry fee cheque, do it with a smile on your face and think “I’m glad I don’t own a horse!
