When I get round to pulling the TY down for repaint, I will be stripping the paint off with Soda Blast. The Bi-carb soda blasting is gentle and removes no metal, only paint.
So everything will get this treatment, frame, engine, plastics (yes, mine have been painted).

No two-pack, no powder coating, I will be applying POR15 to most of what I can.
I would rather push my twinshock than ride a modern!

Mate,
Just use VHT engine enamel- GM Satin Black, looks great and will handle the heat, caliper paint is not rated as high.
You can find it at Repco.

Painting it will reduce its cooling capacity. More heat, less kW. Especially if it's painted with a million coats like some people do to old bikes. :D
Is it time to ride yet?

I have a TLR 250 which belonged to a mate who passed away recently, I am trying to sell for his family, can anyone tell me where I can find the "year of make" on the bike.

Bob, there is only one model of the TLR250 and I suspect Honda made all of them in a single production run in 1985 or 1986. I'm sure a Honda expert will soon correct me if I have it wrong here.

Main problem with rattle can paint is that most dissolve when they come into contact with petrol. This isnt that much of a problem, but cases look a real mess if carb leaks and paint comes off. Powder coating is good for motors that are being stripped, but PJI epoxy case paint in rattle can is about the best of the aerosol paints, and doesnt seem to get affected by petrol if its baked on.

Hello all. FM350, I think you forget that in Australia we can still buy petrol that does not have ethanol in it. The VHT stuff is very good. I am a spray painter by trade so I do know what I am talking about. Graham.

Never had much luck with VHT cans.........seems to one that dissolves with petrol, but probably fine if you dont have Efuel in Aus yet.

Its not that we "don't have Efuel yet" - its that we still have a choice!
