Beta 250 or Gas Gas 250

Post by richardsmith »

Hello fellow trials fans. Im in the market for a new bike and was looking for some feedback on the Gas Gas 250 and Beta 250. My knowladge of trials bikes is very limited as i have a mx background. Im looking to buy new, 2012 models. Any info on either bike would be much appreciated ( pros and cons ) I did have a Sherco 290 in 07 but found it a bit much for a c grade rider.
Cheers, Rick.

I'd say the problem with your sherco was the 290 bit, they've got a reputation of being too much in the power for beginners. I and mates have current 250 sherco's and compared to the 280/290/300 sherco's gas gas's and such they're a lot more forgiving. Make sure you test a new 2012 sherco 250 as its a piece of art. A mate is getting one to upgrade from his 2011 sherco 250. He wanted another 250 because the larger capacity is too much for him. Talk to Don at Moto Central, they're great to deal with.

Don't forget to test ride a new Ossa too as they're so smooth off the bottom. A mate of mine is a beginner and is riding a new ossa, great bike.

I did ride a 2011 Gas Gas 300 last month and it was smooth and doughy with the power, didn't feel like a 300 at all and I would say a great beginners bike after taking it for a ride.

If you're buying new, ride everything first!

Cheers
