I fully support the Australia round of the World Championship, which as a trials enthusiast, I think is incredibly good for Trial in Oz. It should be the best thing for Trial that has ever happened in Australia.
While I have not been involved in the mammoth tasks of organising the event, I have been spruking it to anyone I can think of, including motorcycle press, industry as well anyone who is thinking of coming to the event.
I have been to World Trial overseas since 1994, I think 13 times, and I have accumulated many friends in the paddock, who are thinking to come to Oz for a holiday, and the trial.
Below is a list of the places I've suggested they can visit in Melbourne, if they are coming out for two weeks. Some of the riders will not be able to come for all that time, they have to be in Japan the very next weekend after our Trial for the next round, and cannot get here early. But others will come, such as the FIM representatives, and industry types.
Maybe some of these places also be of interest to Aussies who are travelling to the region for the event.
I look forward to seeing you there,
Kevin Zarczynski.
Dear Friends,
When you come to Australia, you will arrive in Melbourne, so I have done some homework and asked to find what are some good things to do around the city, and region.
These suggestions are in no special order, just look at the links and see if they appeal to you, maybe you put them on your web site as places to think about for others.
Great Ocean Road.
http://www.greatoceanroad.com.au/
This is the coast line road, that everybody drives for the scenery, so if you have a car, you will see it.
Eureka Tower
http://www.eurekaskydeck.com.au/
This the highest tower in the city, and has a entire floor that is for viewing, you can see the whole area, right out to the mountains outside the city. I went up last year on a clear day, and it was a very good view and I learnt the lay of the city.
Healesville Sanctuary
http://www.zoo.org.au/HealesvilleSanctuary
This is where visitors come to meet all the Australian animals up close, our Koala, Kangaroo, crocodile, wombat, platypus and lots of other things you will have not seen before.
The Grampions
http://www.thegrampians.com.au/
this is the scenic national park area, very easy to cover by car, if you want out of the city.
Phillip Island, and penguins
http://www.penguins.org.au/
this is where you go to see the penguins, they are tiny and cute. It is a little out of Melbourne city but there is a road that goes straight there, easy to find, where we have MotoGP.
Melbourne city, here are some cool places I would go if I had a week in Melbourne.
Royal Botanical Gardens

Southbank, the hip and cool area of the city,

Williamtown, the beach town, very popular with Aussie who live in Melbourne

Mt Dandenong lookout, this place looks cool and relaxing

Another suggested activity:
Victorian Goldfields Railway operates steam train services linking Maldon and Castlemaine and this may be something visitors to the trials may like to do before or after watching their events.
