Put a grease zerk on underside of swingarm to prolong bushing life.
Tried a front wheel from PE250, brakes worked pretty well for drum, had to do a lot of work to center wheel in forks. Wheel is 2 pounds heavier than RL. Found a RL wheel with good fit on brake shoes that stops nearly as well so switched back.
Would be interested in any other way to make these things stop.
Used a roller skate wheel for chain tention block.
Dominio throttle with gasgas cable. Had to drill the recess for housing a bit deeper on throttle end. Think the cable was from 98 Gasser. Get the cables from B J racing already made for RL now.

RL250 Odds and ends
Don't let competition get in the way of having fun.
Re: RL250 Odds and ends
There is no magic solution for brakes. 1) If the drum is glossy a light sanding to make it grab on the shoe ( I should have said first, the drum as to be round ) 2) Camshaft as to fit properly ( a loose camshaft won't work that good ) 3) Very important, you have to make sure the shoe FIT the drum, by that I mean they should not touch only a small spot on the drum when spread ( if so sand to fit ) 4) You shoud make " groove " on the shoe ( not only to drain water but to alow space for dirt that is collected every ride ) and last CLEAN CLEAN CLEAN often and keep the camshaft greased. Then make sure that when you pull the lever you realy pull on the canshaft lever ( you cable as to be in top condition ). Then you decide, do I want to ride a modern bike with hydraulc disk brake and clutch or do I still want ride a twin shock and have fun with the guys.

Re: RL250 Odds and ends
Thanks Guy,
I'm with you on everything except the groves, haven't tried that one yet. This one stops pretty good but I would like better however not bad enough to go modern, Im having way too much fun in vintage class.
