Don't know the answer to that one - all I do know is that the greater majority of active competitors in NSW at least think it's a good idea.

That doesn't mean that it will happen! When the Classic carb issue came up only a couple of riders wanted the new rule but it went through regardless.

Yes, I know what you mean, sadly...

"Why not canvas members of all clubs in Aus running classic events on a regular basis, and get their views on any proposals you have in mind?"
Here in the UK any sort of positive changes related to classic trials are quite impossible due to the vociferous opposition which would result (largely from various vested interests), but I would think the situation in Aus is quite different so why not try what I suggested above?

You raise a very good point - we do canvas on a very informal basis, The Carb rule amandment ment was brought about through general pre and post event chat - the problem in NSW (and I'm sure its the case with all the other States) is, of course, a few voulnteers trying to find the time to fit it in along with organising and running events and holding down a real job.

Not that difficult to put together a simple tick box photo copied A4 sheet, which riders could complete same time as filling in entry form? Here in the UK the way things are run is largely dictated by a very small but vocal minority, and in my view anything that allows more people to have a voice of some sort has to be a good thing.

That would be a good idea to have a voting sheet and in Australia as there are only a small amount of TS riders and even less Pre65. I'd guess about 30 to 40 pre65 riders at best not sure about TS. Which such small numbers you would think is was easy to get all to have a say. At least this forum tried something like that in the form of a pole on Spanish bikes back in 2010 after a very good rider won an Australian title on one. Only problem with that was out of the 30 or 40 riders they got some 850 votes, I think our politicians would love to be able to have their people vote 20 time or more.
Someone needs to get a register going so riders in each class can be polled correctly so that the vocal minority only has one vote like everyone else. This would only work if MA was in favour of it though.
Any volunteers?
Re: Flatslides on Twinshocks
If there are not that many competitors then why not get organise a fool proof method of polling their views on matters to do with TS and P65 in Aus, and act on the consensus opinion?
Here in the UK very vocal minority interest groups pretty much dictate how the sport is run, and anyone who suggests any form of change or alteration to the status quo is quickly dismissed.

ty 250 Had a bent needle ? in the carb. It is true Yamaha tuned these engines & had Mikuni build a carb to suit. Well they didn't really build a carb. But there is a part that is unique to Yamaha that is no longer available
If Yamaha spent the time and money doing this, tuning a carb to their engine. I would stay with that. or not.
