Pehaps I could explain why its a difficult task in orgainising dates - its not a lack of co-operation between clubs,we all meet on a regular basis and all ride each others trials. There just arent enough weekends in the year it seems, and whilst we do try to keep the same dates if possible there are times when we cant. For instance this year is our clubs 25th anniversary and I've been asked to put on a trial the day before our scramble at the beginning of august, which is an extra date for us as we dont normally run anything in that month. We also have to avoid events like the Classic off road show in Telford and Bristol Classic bike show etc. Then you also get events like the Bonanza last weekend - there is no point at all in clashing with any of these events, but they do move around. We try hard to not clash but you do get odd clubs putting in a trial with little notice such as the VMCC who advertise in their own magazine its hard to avoid. We are ALL volunteers who do it for the love of the sport.
Off topic,(Sorry in advance) I would also like to ask FM350,(Who is Chris Stevens of Classic trial - although for some reason he wont admit it.) to please try not to attack each thread and use it as an excuse to moan about the dire state of Pre65 and twinshock trials in the UK.You have made your opinion VERY clear Chris - and I and others have all suggested you do something about it,but it seems you would rather vent on here.

Hi guys
I couldn't agree more with Paul, how come these outsiders have so much to say about the Aussie trials scene and compare it with Pommie trials/Clubs/problems, who really cares about their problems in the UK.
I have lived and ridden in Aus for over 30 years and as many would know I am back in the UK for a while, but there's nothing that winds Aussies up more than being told how to do things,,, especially by Poms.
I ride in AMCA and ACU events over here in the UK and know there are more problems than you could poke a stick at and its the same thing here on the equivalent Pommie trials site, a very small outspoken minority telling everyone what to do but not going through the correct channels to make things happen themselves, they'd rather stir everyone up on a chat forum.
The main good thing about the Classic trials here is that its opened up to Pre 70 and this allows a lot more "Classics" to appear but regardless of Pre 70 or Twinshock the riders all get on and have fun riding, thats what its all about.
Let these guys sort out their date clashes themselves, I only wish I was back there to help

Hi All, My posting about conflicting dates was really about trying not to conflict at Important events on the calendar and not meant to be anything other than that. As has already been mentioned there never seems to be enough weekends and we should remember Trials burnout as well(Is there such a thing?) For example the Victorian Twinshock Callenge is on the 7th of October, a date which clashes with a Denman Club day but I simply could not get another date, it was that or no trial at all! The problems with Twinshocks and Classics have been gone over as many times as I've had hot dinners but nothing ever gets resolved and it all doesn't matter as long as we can get on a bike we love and ride the bloody thing! Once you're in the section and face that first log or rock step, all the problems of the world (your world anyway) completely disappear even for just a minute and thats what's important.
Regards Geoff

You're not the only one I dare say! One opinionated fellow in particular is a problem on every forum he's on. Too bad nobody seems to acknowledge the 'brains of britain'.

LIke it or not there are many problems related to running events for TS and P65 no matter where you might be geographically! These are never likely to addressed here in the UK, but maybe others could possibly learn from the mistakes made and avoid going down the same road?

Hey.
Geoff started this topic off as a plain and sensible comment suggesting the trials organisers attempt to avoid date clashes which seems a very logical idea then there comes a flood of stuff that happens in the UK,,, what the f*** has that got to do with Geoffs idea.
Its turns into a forum for the minority to voice their opinions and hope somebody agrees with them.

Back on the topic, Geoff, have you had any constructive comments to build the classic and twinshock movement, my suggestion would be to open out classic to Pre 70 (British !!!) from pre 65 and for organisers to advertise some radical Twinshock class changes well ahead of putting them in their Supp Regs. see these suggestions;
Water cooled mono's could have happened 6 years ago if organisers had simply put them in the S/regs.
Best two stroke Twinshock any capacity.
Best four stroke Twinshock under 250cc
Best four stroke Twinshock over 350cc
Best twin, any capacity (there's a lot of big triumphs that could be converted)
Best rigid.
Forget about Veterans grades where you get two or three riders and they all get an award, same with youths, juniors and women, it has become farcical where all these minority grades have been invented over recent years, they're OK for modern events.

Lets get Classic and Twinshock sorted for the enthusiasts and encourage riders to compete in the suggested grades/classes above or something similar, sort out the dates and then we will see some growth.
Cheers

Roger are you saying that you want to now make pre-70 for pommy bikes only? That would not be a popular move with the people who have deliberately restored pre-70 Spanish bikes in the expectation of riding them in pre-70!

If the message about conflicting dates was about having the NSW Twinshock Titles and the Brooweena Twinshock-only trial on the same weekend, yes it was unfortunate for a couple of people who might have ridden both events had they been on at different times (yes I'm one of those people). But as Paul Arnott pointed out, the geographical situation is something we have no control over, and these two particular events are held at venues over 20 driving hours apart, so we probably shouldn't get too wound up about them being held on the same weekend.
To minimise the possibility of conflicting dates in 2013, the organisers of the Brooweena event tell me that every Brooweena event since it started in 2004 has been held on the first Sunday in July.
