I would agree entirely Tri.............however here in the UK there are no rules to speak of, and in the P65 class its possible to buy success if you can afford £10k for the very latest machinery, and are able to ride reasonably well. I think the sensible way to go would be to introduce a specials class, where any bike with air cooled motor, 2x shocks and drum brakes could be ridden.

Roger I think the Commision what to make Carbs free but they need to add some extra wording to stop any confusion, reading what is there at the moment to my twisted mind is open to protests.[/quote]

As one of the co authors of the rule change you're right - the intention was to make carbs free - we appear to have overlooked the 'No Jap' nonsense - We'll see if we can fix it.

This is a momentous occasion, George and I agreeing on something.

It will be interesting to see the final version of "any carb goes" in 2013, thanks Paul

Hi All, I personally think that a square slide carb on a pre 65 machine would be out of keeping and I would advocate the use of round slide carbs only, however I suppose it's up to the commissioners and what the majority of riders want. Less restrictions is easier to enforce than more restrictions, yes?

Paul.
Congragulations on getting this rule change going, I'm sure it was difficult to get all to agree or at least 2 out of 3.
The no Jap part looks to have been addressed by removing clause 23.5.0.3 but I feel that by taking the Carbs out of the Major component list puts them into the minor area which still have to "remain visualy compatible with the period being depicted".
My sugestion is to change 23.5.0.3 to say "Pre-65 any round slide carb can be used and (TS) Post Classic any round or flat slide carb can be used"
I'm sure that most riders would be happy with that wording and it takes away any confusion and is very easy to police.
