Before accusing others who feel very strongly about the lack of rules in UK classic trialling of trolling, I wonder if you could let everyone know whether or not you feel having no rules in Aus events would help to make riding older bikes more popular, and whether or not you think that modern recently produced machines (as allowed in the UK) would provide any sort of advantage to those able to afford them?

The above link (if it is a link) should take you to ITSA, a vintage national trials org. here in the USA, where you can find their rules on equipment and the like. Our local club rules are much more simple. We also run an "A" and "B" class (novice and one class higher) in the club. Or just search itsa vintage trials.

I find no evidence of "trolling" in this thread. It appears to be a valid discussion about the merits of rules or lack thereof for the P65 class.

If any member has an issue with the subject of the thread, I suggest you don't read it.

Quite simple. If I over specify my Cub, I'll enter twin shock if I want to compete for a prize or non competitive if I don't. Rules work and should be adhered to. The changing of rules should have the support of a majority of the affected parties, preferably riders who compete regularly. I would certainly welcome pre-65 specials competing in twin shocks, not going to happen though, sections in Australia are horrendously tight, clutch burning, and not much fun. I personally don't have the clutch burning issue as I don't pull it in, probably why I get lots of fives

Thanks Keith...............I feel very strongly that there is a need for rules related to TS and P65 trialling, and there is no good reason that the UK shouldnt adopt something along the lines of those you have in Aus, with the addition of a specials or trickshock class to accommodate the modern recently built bikes which would certainly be outlawed by any sort of workable system of rules.

As 4 speed BSA Bantams with aftermarket frames, billet hubs and fork yokes, tubeless wheels, Maxton suspension front and rear, Fantic top ends, and 5 speed gear conversions, can be ridden and used as "P65" bikes in the UKs most prestigious "P65" events, maybe its to late for rules here, but no reason not to make an attempt to stop TS going down the tubes in the same way though.

We are all happy little vegemites over here, we like our classes and rules as they are - why fix it when it aint broke?
This keeps the TS and Classic classes to be more authentic and helps with the period originality, this is why you dont see the problems you encounter FM350.
No rules for these classes will never bring in numbers, most club grade members who are finding it a bit hard these days to compete ride a modern in the club grade. I tried to get these riders enthusiastic about twinshock a few years ago, most could not be bothered with the older machine, and rode their modern anyway.

The only way our club could get around this to get riders off their moderns and dig out a twinshock from the shed, was to run a twinshock trial and non-stop rules. The numbers did increase for twinshock, but low for a club trial. No one can really be bothered doing up their twinshocks except a few, no great expense in special machinery here.

I am sick of the unessasary debate and off topic rants about this subject in other posts you have contributed to or instigated. (feel free to search this site under posts by FM 350 to judge for yourself). So as you raised it as a separate topic, as suggested by others, it's worthy of reply. Yes we need rules.

The other suggestion to you by another poster from the UK in other posts about this topic about the UK scene (ad nauseum) has been - "what are you doing about it?" " get involved to make the changes if you feel strongly enough about it"

So going by the fact this topic has now been fleshed out and comment in its own topic - There Is No Need For You To Hijack Other Threads, Go Off Topic About This Ever Again On This Site - RIGHT? People are getting a little sick of it, and there has been more than enough hints to you dropped by way of comments along the way, need I not spell it out any clearer!!!
