I have got some explorer and mar parts if you are still chasing anything. I have tanks, explorer and mar frames, fork legs, side stands, exhaust springs etc etc. I am currently trying to get time to complete a mar 350 and 250 at the same time. Send me a pm (private message) if you need anything. I also have a mould for making the fiberglass bash plates!

Cheers

You probably think I'm nuts, but I really enjoy working on older European stuff. The Euros just have a different way of going about things that I find interesting.
Yeah, there's challenges to them, but that's all part of the attraction for me.

Thanks for the offer too, Andrew. I'll send you a pm.

Thanks a lot mate.
I've sent the seller a message, so we'll see what it all goes for.
Hopefully, I can at least get a front wheel to get mine rolling. 8)

Quick update, I probably won't go for a lot of this stuff, simply because of the postage cost.
e.g. 30 bucks to post just the headlight to S.A. :?
I might still go for the front wheel depending on his postage quote. I sent him a message on Thursday, but haven't heard back as yet.

I owned an Explorer new back in the 70s and I loved it. best trail bike I've ever had. However the brakes were crap. I was also told back then that fitting a kill switch would damage the motoplat ignition. So to kill two birds with one stone I fitted a decompressor in the second plug hole. This stopped the engine and also worked a treat as a brake. I still have the speedo in a box.

I was just about to attempt to fit a kill switch to my recently aquired MAR. This now throws an element of doubt in there.
Can anyone add any extra information please?

It is important which wire you connect the killswitch to on any electronic ignition. My OSSA is hard to get to at present to check which wire the killswitch is connected to, but I think I have a manual and will have a look tonight

The book (Clymer manual) shows that the HT coil has two low voltage connections. One comes from the stator and is black. The other comes from the stator to the HT coil and continues on to the ignition switch and is blue. The ignition switch is shown as being the type that connects the blue wire to earth when the switch is in the off position.

David to the rescue again.
I'll just add that the blue wire should go to the larger of the 2 coil terminals.
