Re: Show us a picture of your Twinshock
Hi Guy53, My CZ is a model 475 (250cc) which was based on the model 455 which in turn was based on the model 450(175cc). It is difficult to tell which is which as the engines are near identical in appearance but fortunately were nearly all identity stamped on the cases. All these single port motors were based on a Jawa design hence the combined gear lever/ kick starter, although almost no parts are interchangeable with the Jawa engines of the same era. The off road versions of these bikes were in fact really what I would term 'soft roaders' as they were different to the touring models in only detail such as bigger wheels, nobbly tyres, slight frame mods, longer swingarm, forged footpegs, sometimes a smaller seat, braced handlebars, etc. Any touring model can be easily converted to what they marketed as a trials model in those days. That is not to say they are not any good as they were a robust and reliable machine with good handling characteristics. The spares for these bikes are plentiful and relatively cheap with a piston kit costing around 30 euros plus postage. I have had a lot of fun on mine. I have been riding CZ's in trials for over 18 years first on a 175 and then on the 250. The 175 has a lot of potential but lacks the grunt of the 250 but revs much more freely and is a a bit lighter. I will revisit the 175 when I get the inclination.
Regards Geoff.
Regards Geoff.

I am no expert on CZ but I have seen quite a few MX ( and a few road ) models and I was asking myself if it was a 175 or a 250. Do you have any idea of the weight of that particular bike, look like it's pretty light.

Re: Show us a picture of your Twinshock
Hi all,
I have ridden a couple of Geoff's CZ's and rode one of his 250's at the 2012 Australian titles in WA, I finished second to Geoff.
All I can say is that it is the best pre 65 bike I have ridden; I know Geoff goes on about his CZ's but I’m a convert.
Go CZ.
Phil.

Re: Show us a picture of your Twinshock
Hi, Aaw geez thanks Phil but have you ridden many Pre 65 bikes? Hows that Voshkod going? I am now looking for a CZ model 460 which was a factory prepared Trials bike with a pretty souped up single port motor. They were manufactured from 1961 and may have been imported to Aus from possibly late 1961, early 1962. They were a limited production machine. The motor externally is identical to my bikes but would have seperate kick/gear lever. The numbers including the prefix 460 or 461 for the 125cc, are stamped on top of the left hand case. If anyone knows of one please contact me. More people need to get in to pre 65 as it's much more fun and a lot easier than riding moderns and you don't have to update every year.
Regards Geoff

Recent repaint with rattle cans. It was solid black with orange rear fender. Runs and turns really well and is geared 11/39 final drive which is pretty tall (I call it first and a half) but works well with a 1 finger clutch.

Looks nice. Did you change the frame geometry? It looks like something has been done at the steering head
relax, nothing is under control
