Hey all....i have some questions about my boys GG 50,
some help would be great
1....How do i Know what year it is?? (its blue, water cooled twin disc)
2....when its warm should the cooling fan run at any rpm? (like my Rev3) or does it only run (the fan) when its up in the revs
3....how much compression should it have? there isnt much resistance on the kick starter (unlike our Beta 50cc) and seems a litle hard to start warm or cold
once running it seems sweet
4....do they have a nickle coated cylinder bore??? if i was to replace piston and rings can i lightly hone it
There is more...lol but lets get through this lot 1st
thanks heaps

We have a 2010 or 2011 GG50 Boy, which has graphice to mimic the full sized Gas Gas of the same year (red frame with red and black graphics)
I think the fan motor continues to run at idle but can't say I have consciously taken note.
It is easy enough to kick over for an adult, but I can feel the compression strokes through my boot and my 34kg son has to work a bit to kick it over.
It starts easily hot or cold
No idea what the bore material is

Re: GasGas txtboy 50cc
Thanks Dave....well the cooling issue is sorted......GasGas New Zealand are a bunch of drop kicks, they don't even have a listing of parts for the 50cc here
i have found a shop about 9 hours away from us that has been really helpful
The next issue now...........we sorted the cooling....the compression issue is kind of under control (it goes for now)
but then 20 mins into the ride the stator crapped its self,no spark.....Now try explaining to a 6yr old who lives for trials that he can't ride his bike anymore????
so back to the good old internet to "google" the problem,it seems this year GG had stator problems but GG don't sell or supply a remedy...go figure??
so again back to my helpful shop (9hrs away) and the stator has been sent to them for re-winding
No wonder im a Beta rider....our 2000 50cc Beta goes as well and as strong as it did from new
Im alot gutted with the GG support......Im looking for a 50cc or 80cc Beta right now

Info for the 50 can be found here ;
http://www.trialspartsusa.com/
The parts manual for the motor here
http://www.trialspartsusa.com/manuals/TX50_motor_pdf.pdf
Not sure if the Boy 50 runs the same ignition as all the other Minarelli varients but I get a lot of weirdo ignition stuff here;

Re: GasGas txtboy 50cc
Ok so a HUGE Thanks to those who have passed on numbers etc....some contacts being a great help
and some.......well they really should have a look at there career choice
So this is where im at....our 2002 txt boy 50 lost all spark.....GG cant supply a replacement as its "so old" ( funny because i can purchase ALL Beta Rev 50 parts back until 2000 model)
ive also been told Ducati do a "fix" for the ignition...it replaces the crankshaft, both cases and a whole lot of other engine parts...BUT its $2000 australian plus freight
We paid 1500 for the bike???? im not a poor person but im also not stupid with my money....i have been offerd a 2005 beta rev 50 for $2000....that might be an option but what do i do with the GG???? Fit pedals????
anyway i removed the stator from our other bike (rev 50) fitted it to the GG as the motors although air cooled (beta) are suppose to be the same
the only thing is the air cooled motor/stator doesnt have the extra coils to make power for the cooling fan but i can get around that
so fitted the Beta stator....now have spark BUT it still wont go????? can someone tell me if the flywheel/timing position for bo the motors
are the same???? ive also fitted the Beta flywheel to match the stator.......i'm really dis-heartened at the moment....and my 6yr old son is more gutted than ever
HELP !!!!!!

Re: GasGas txtboy 50cc
Is there any companies like this; http://www.westcountrywindings.co.uk/index.htm where you are ? If not it may be worth contacting WCW here in the UK, I've not needed to use them, but know plenty of people who have. They seem especially good at sorting out fantics with no spark....
Re: GasGas txtboy 50cc
Hi again,so i have the GG running,i removed the keyway from the crankshaft and turned the flywheel until the bike started and run
i have wired a couple of 6v drycel batterys into the fan control sender so the fan now turns on and off as it needs...i just recharge the batterys every couple of rides
sinse then though the ignition coil has crapped its self also....so again a dissapointed son and a piece of S#@T bike
AND once again i have used a Beta part to fix the problem
Also the kick start spring has broken from the continuous kicking...again no reply from the GG agents
So to anyone wanting to get there kids into Trials.....Dont buy a 50cc Gasgas....the bigger GG's are meant to be good though
I have been riding trials for over 20 years,my late model bikes have all been Beta's...my daughter has a 2000 model Rev 50 and it never miss's a beat (pun intended)
I can get any part for the 50 and my 300 within a week.....Gasgas aren't interested in this little bike at all, infact all i get is facetious emails from Gasgas agents
Very very dissapointed
Rant over.....and back to the garage to see what else is going to go wrong with it
